Default AP1 vs. Sti on freeway

Ok, so Im on the 5-south here in so cal and I see these HID's comin upon me hard. Its a black Sti. I slow to 60-65 cuz I love droppin it down to 3rd at that speed hoping he'd slow to 60 too. He slows, I honk 3 times and we're off. I pulled almost a car on him instantly, kept pulling slowly more, then he was able to reel me in kinda and stay with me and I was able to stay with him all the way up to 125mph. He was slightly a fender behind me. I was surprised to stay with him. Was this normal?

only thing i'd say is it's kinda weird how the STi reeled you in after you pulled him...assuming it's stock the STi/EVo usually pull harder the lower the speed is, maybe you stole the hit because you honked? (usually the one honking steals the hit)

with your mods and the STi being stock it sounds pretty credible

where's s2kguy?

Something was wrong with his car, or his driving, take your pick.

I had a chance to race an STI the other day as well, but the traffic was just too bad. It was also black, newer model. I wasn't sure if I could have pulled it off - probably not. That's a great car. Almost got it over my s2k, but the s2k body is much sleeker and of course the convertible.

Not exactly sure about the EVO, but with the STi it just isn't happening unless there is some sort of driver-error. Many feel just the opposite, even my good buddy V, and I'll admit that over 100 mph the margin gets a lot thinner, but the nod still goes to the STi.

This is a video I made of my STi when it was bone stock. No effort was made to launch the car, or shift quickly, I simply wanted to run the car to redline in each gear until I hit the electronic limiter. Temp was about 69
