Lets also look at the typical driver of a z4 compared to the s2k. Almost every z4 driver(**that I have seen) is a white collar middle aged mid-life crisis kinda guy. We s2k owners tend to be a tad different and can drive our cars properly.

Is the traction control in an M Z4 defeatable? He probably wouldn't have turned it off anyway if he could have anyways.
You're a joke. And your "that I have seen" qualifier means NOTHING.

Enjoy your decade old car. If that's what the Z4 owner crowd is, it's much better than the s2k young teenage ricer crowd. Wasn't like that when the cars cost more so a certain demographic (read: you) couldn't afford them.

I agree, I have beat a few BMWs that should have been able to beat me, I'm talking about the newer Z4, 335I and even the last M3. And yes, they did try. I agree that I beat the driver and not the car but they seemed just as upset just the same. Hey, it's not my fault if they can't drive your car.

Most BMW drivers will just floor it, they are not going to disable the traction control or shift manualy (if it is an auto) and I think that is why they get beat.

Actually I don't completely disagree with what you say, the S2k is getting older and cheaper. Yes, younger people, some of them ricers will end up cheapening the S2k but that's just the way it goes.

But there is more to the story then just that. I recently read that more and more people are purchasing/leasing cars that most financial advisors would agree are beyond their income. Not only have purchase and lease programs promoted this but society has also become more accepting of auto debt. I work with people who drive cars that cost as much as they make in a year. It is just acceptable to have a $600 monthly payment for 60 months , even for someone who only makes 35k a year... So what does all this mean and what is my point? Well, you are going to see lots of D-Bags driving nicer cars! That includes S2ks and BMWs!

Lol... I was the proud owner of an AP1 for a couple of years and I am currently the proud owner of a Z4M roadster. I have also driven a Z4 3.0si coupe and a Z4 3.0i a few times. IMHO, a well driven S2000 vs Z4 in a straight line SHOULD go roughly like this: Z4M > Z4 3.0si> or = S2000 > or = Z4 3.0i... My two cents...

You are correct if the traction control is off. The Z4M Coupe would wipe the floor stock for stock with any S2k. That is a fact. I raced one a few months ago and he was pretty quick in stock form but my modified M3 pulled a couple car lengths on him real fast and he let off on the gas. I gave him the thumbs up. Dont underestimate the Z4M.
