the Z4M stock traps 108-109mph, it would obliterate a stock s2000 from any speed given traction isn't an issue.

i haven't driven one yet, but the e46 m3 which shares the same engine felt deceptively slow as well (linear power delivery + weight + the way the car's engineered toward luxury/comfort)

and the e46 m3 made 333hp a the crank and on average put down 260-275rwhp depending on dyno's. you should not be staying with an e46 m3 in 4th gear+ but i guess anything can happen. the e46 m3 is good for 103-106mph traps.

edit: just noticed your mods, i apologize if my post sounds a bit harsh. but the Z4M is very quick once rolling. judging from trap speed you'd need a VTSC s2k to keep up (108-109mph trap IIRC)

It's called first hand experience, not #'s on paper experience .

And if you want to do Magazine #'s, here's a comparo link against the cayman S:

http://www.caranddriver.com/reviews/compar...comparison_test

So having testdrove the Z4 M prior to racing the E46, my assumptions were accurate. I wish I had a video, it was that close.

The E46 is a tad quicker than a Z4 M.

Oh- Just noticed the IIRC part.

My dyno sheet is somewhere on here. 245RWHP/175 lbs TQ should be able to hang with an E46 AS I did.

Are you from the east coast by chance?

I raced an M model Z4 when i was bone stock and beat him. No doubt he would kill me on the highway, but we raced from a stop. See in the Z4 when it detects tire spin, the timing turns way down to get control and then it turns itself back up. when it does that, the S just rides on and the Z is stuck going really slow.
If the driver didn't engage DSC then he could have lost to a Honda Fit. Also...it does NOT alter timing when tire spin is detected.

This guy is not bsing. My friend let me drive his z4 M coupe yesterday and didn't impress me at all. There seems to be a lag when you punch it. My ap2 feels like it accelerates faster 0-100 and handles way better. I didn't baby the Z4 either as he instructed me to beat on it. Just for the record- My car has bolt ons/EMS tune with an 8500 redline, but I highly doubt a stock S would hold up (esp after 100 mph).

I became curious when i saw the subject of this post simply because I JUST recently test drove a z4m and raced a previous model m3 (333 rwhp- same engine as above) all in a span of 3 days. This was my first real race since I have been tuned. The outcome? 4th gear drop (he got the go) and we were dead even until the end of 5th where he ever so slightly pulled 1/2 car (his door). This is no way a BS story...I know what's up!!!...
Your S2000 feels faster because its a convertable and you feel and hear the road at all times. I remember, I had one and now have an M and can tell you there is no way my modified S2000 would have kept up with my modified M3, let alone stock for stock.

You are correct the Z4M is a tad bit slower but IMO its right there with the E46.

Bottom line is both the Z4M and E46 M3 are faster than 00-08 S2000s and that is stock VS stock.

[QUOTE=silverstonejedi,Jun 25 2008, 12:59 PM] And I agree. Read above. If you didn't notice, I'm not stock. Secondly, I was there racing the e46 my darn self...So if it isn't first hand experience, what is?

You must be new to the honda world if you don't know what Hp to the wheels it takes to hang with any other vehicle.

So I see to disagree with me if I were stock, but that's not the case.

Read...read...read carefully and you'll notice that i testdrove the slower z4 and raced the faster e46 the very next day.

I see you have an e46 so you wouldn't take this too easy. But it is what it is.

I'm comparing a stock e46 with my tuned 245/175 lbs ap2. And that was dropping 4th on the freeway where he should have no prob pulling away where he didn't!!

Even if i

I am a 48 year old white collar male who drives an S2000. I guess that busts the garbage about the typical demographic of the average S2000 owner.
