Default ap2 s2k vs civic coupe (previous gen)

on my way home, i was sitting behind a black civic which was dropped a little with a nice big exhaust and it was sitting on some bronze/gold rims. i was on wilton getting ready to go on the 10 freeway. the civic was the first and me sitting behind with no other cars in sight.

the light turns green and the civic turns wide and gets on the right lane instead of the left (two-lane freeway entrance). so i went on the left lane and decided to go wot. no reason, i just felt like driving hard. the civic wanted to play so he guns it too. i thought to myself, "sure why not, i'll put him in his place." to my surprise i could not pull on the guy. i was on 2nd gear around 5k rpm. the two lane quickly turned to one and i had to ease off the gas to let the civic get in front.

civic keeping up with a s2k? this is going to be interesting...
so when we got on the freeway, we both eased off and was coasting at 65 mph due to moderate traffic. i was behind the civic and we both wanted to play again. so we sped up and managed to put the traffic behind us. i pulled to the far left lane and the civic was in the 2nd lane. we paced for about 5 seconds. i dropped gears one-by-one from 6 to 3rd as did the civic. i honked three times and we both went for it. 3rd gear, nobody pulled, 4th gear, i was barely inching away, 5th gear i had to ease off due to the car in front.

i say it was pretty much even. after the second race, i caught up to the guy who already had his window down, arms out, with his thumb up. i asked what he had and he replied, "k-swap". i gave him a thumbs up and we both parted ways.

i wonder what else he had done to the car?

He had a lot more mods than just a K20 swap to keep up with you. He probably had intake, headers, test pipe, exhaust, and k-pro.

You can gut those cars down to 2000 or less pounds. Do a funky engine swap and turbo it and you can be putting down 600+ to the wheels and only weigh a ton. Thats sub 10 second material.

if it was a 7th gen civic(01-05) then hed need more than just a K to keep up with a s2k. probably BPU K20.

depends on the year civic...earlier 90's with a k-swap= rape...Low 13 to high 12's all day with bolt ons and tuning

i have a k20 in a 2001 civic, intake, header, kpro. do 13.3 on street tires, 12.8 on slicks.
