You are ignoring the AWD advantage the EVO has at the drag strip. Why do you think s2000 owners always want to race "from a roll" Take away the traction advantage and the weight of the EVO catches up to it.
Most evos would still win on a roll. What fun is it to keep up on a roll race when it's embarrassing to take your car to the track?

Because running from a roll is something you can do anywhere? I don't have any interest in taking my car to a drag strip but its still fun to gun it against other cars on the street, especially in the WRX.

we all want to have fun with our cars, therefor we race from roll cuz it has a less chance of breaking something. I'm sure most people built their cars for street encounters only. Not drag strip nor road course
