Default ap2 vs srt4

so i was on the 10 east at night, i forget what time, but i see this red srt4 in the right lane and i pass him a couple lanes to the left since i'm cruising faster than him. he accelerates and passes me then gets next to me. i hear him downshift and some popping noises so i downshift to 3rd and slow to around 60. funny thing is, we both started honking at the same time so we both honked 3 honks and took off.

the result: from 60-110 we were dead even. nobody pulled anywhere even between shifts lol. from the popping noises his exhaust was making, he most likely had at least exhaust + tp. i had my gf in the car top up and he was alone. we both gave a thumbs up and he exited.

i'm guessing he may have been modded further than that since afaik stock for stock they have the same hp but weigh more than our cars. engine-wise, i only have an fipk.

If you look most of them put down that type of power at the wheels though which get's the car moving pretty well. A few bolt ons and they become really impressive

This damn car throws fire crackers on a stock exhaust (which is loud and annoying, my buddy used to have one), and they can get a plate for about 30 bucks from mopar which allows the diverter to blow open atmosphere through three little holes (most of these kids have em). These cars stock are pretty damn quick and I would expect them to pull almost even with a stock s2k. But then again I would never buy it. Cheapest....interior....ever. My sis used to have a 00 neon and the interior was IDENTICAL in ever way. Definitely some fun cars to drive though...if you can get over the annoying exhaust note throwing back fires at you with every single shift, decel, down shift etc.

They weigh 90lbs more than an early ap1.... And probably the same as an AP2. And srt4-s actually put down more wheel horsepower since they dont have to go through such a translation being fwd. All they have is the half shaft and 2 axles. We have to go through a long heavy driveshaft, differential, and then 2 axles. Stock they usually put down 215-220 with just about as much torque. Most of the time stock for stock an srt-4 will pull on an s2k. And things like exhaust and boost upgrades are so cheap for that car any modification will have a huge impact, unlike the s2k. So they have just about the same whp if not more, and ALOT more torque at about the same weight. But either way slap a turbo on the s2k and run turbo vs turbo and its a muuuuch different story

I don't mind the exhaust popping and such. Kind of says something about the wiggle room for safety in their stock fuel maps though. Get a little tuning done to lean them out a bit and they should run nicely, methinks.
