I owned an '04 WRX before I bought the S. Based on my seat of the pants feel, there's not much difference between the two in terms of rolling acceleration. I *think* the S feels faster, but frankly, there isn't much difference at all.

If you at least get a decent launch youll be able to make up the ground you lost as the speeds increase, once you hit about 80 or so mph you should start creeping up on him.

Is the wrx a 2006 or newer? It'll be tough from a dig if he knows how to launch. If he's got a protune, you may be out of luck all together..

HAHA this is the perfect match up it's a driver's race. i just came back from Sacramento raceway this past wednesday. my friend's wrx 2002 has downpipe, up pipe, intake, header, exhaust, tuned and stripped ran a 13.9 at 98 MPH. my stockish s2k with aem v2 and a v3 invidia dual ran 14.2 at 98 MPH. it's gonna be a good race depending on driver. o i forgot the wrx had race gas i believe it was tuned at 94 octane.

s2k>wrx on roll
wrx= or > s2k on dig (depending on driver)i believe.

Your friends a very bad driver with those mods and a tune stripped down should be mid to low 13's even in cali without race gas.
