Default B16 Hatch gets toasted.

I have seen this particular black Civic hatchback around town quite a bit (yeah, I know...its a Civic...but around here you don't see much else). He is slammed, black wheels with a polished lip, exhaust...etc. Car looks real JDM, nice and clean. However, he is tried a couple times to get me to race...one night even out right rolled down the window and asked me to go...in the middle of a lot of traffic. After some asking around, I find out he has a B16A swap with I/H/E and an aftermarket clutch....and that the car is not that fast, but he is supposedly a great driver.

Tonight I passed him on my way home from work, and came to a stoplight with him right behind me in a left turn lane. I decide I have had enough of this guy. Left turn light turns green, I turn the corner...leaving it in first gear. He pulls over beside me, we both punch it. 2nd gear, he is one car length back. 3rd gear, he is now 3+ back...approaching 4 quickly. Had to shut down at this point, upcoming traffic and going way too fast for a city street.

Not the greatest kill, but after seeing him tear around the streets several times....and especially hearing what a great driver he is supposed to be....I could not resist the temptation.

Sweet.

I have seen this car in the daylight as well. Its nicely done. Just from seeing him go from a stop from a spectators view...it looks really quick. I wonder if the minor mods + the swap are truly all thats under the hood. I would like to think that he has done some motor work too, but those hatches are so lightweight he could probably do just a few things and be reasonably quick. His is about a 1992-93 I believe.

I feel lame racing a Civic, but this specific one is pretty well done.

nice kill...out here on in Cali Civics are a dime a dozen but there are quite a few in Frisco that are definately sleepers.

While I was going to school in San Diego I remember going to the races one night and a black civic hatch dusted a c5 vette three times. THought that was pretty cool.

Ouch.

I knew this Civic was all motor. One with a turbo I would probably not even bother....well, if I knew that there was a turbo under the hood.

Oh, and a K-swap? No one around this town is that smart. Intake and a muffler...you are at 500+ hp with only that done. Fockin morons...

these guys think they can beat an S by putting a b16 on a hatch. they are not too bright. I raced a guy in his civic hatch coming home from the gym and he told me he had b16 with all kinds of type r parts and what not. that was an Easy victory fir me. oh well i used to be one of them in my crx lol!!!
