i was the car was the passenger in the s2000 and he killed by alot more than he's even describing....it was E46 not a E36. It was an amaizing highway race with a couple of really nice high speed turns.

I can believe this. I have a video of the S2000 taking on the M3 (E46) at the Tskuba circuit which is pretty twisty. The S2000 had a much faster corner entry and exit speed than the M3.

However, the M3 made up ground on the straights.

To be honest, the M3 looked like an overwight slug on the circuit compared to the R34, 350Z and the S2000.

And before anyone starts on: depends on the driver - it was being driven by Tsuchiya (Drift king)

If you've driven both cars, you'll know what I mean.
I have owned and driven both cars and disagree. There is no doubt that the S2000 is lighter and handles like a smaller, lighter, more nimble car. However, the E46 M3 makes up for its weight disadvantage with a broader much more usable powerband and is extremely stable under just about every cornering condition. In addition to which the M3 has a much more 'planted' feeling at speed. I'm not discounting your story... I have beaten E46 M3's in my S2000 but only after it was turbocharged. I do doubt that a capable driver of an E46 M3 would fall behind as the one you raced. Also... there is no such thing as an E46 M3 automatic... they don't exist, only 6 speed manual or SMG.

When I say auto I mean SMG
I felt the same way... that's exactly the reason I ordered my M3 without SMG. However, if all was doing with the car was racing... SMG is great. It allows you to focus on the other aspects of driving and not worry about shifting. That being said... I still prefer manuals.

I agree that manual is more fun to drive, but SMG provides different kinds of fun according to SMG onwers and many skilled M3 drivers prefer SMG over manual at any track. why? derryck pointed out the exact reason.

First of all......I honestly don't know how much you know about real racing(with actual curves)but, there is no way an E46 M3(probably auto) is passing an S2000 from over 2 cars back on the OUTSIDE of a curve when the s2000 has position ESPECIALLY.
