Default Besting a Vette

Wow, what a site...wish I had found this place miles ago. I'm sort of sad as winter is coming sooner than I wish to the midwest...thought I'd relive a moment that happened a couple weeks ago...I was returning from the A-C-D show in Auburn, IN...so might have been pumped...saw not one other S2k...but saw 4 prowlers...2 red/2 spa yellow...a zillion vetts of the same colors....one Audi TT...and oh, at least a dozen Z3's...I just love my Spa Yellow fellow...took delivery on Aug 1 and am just getting close to my first oil change (3005 miles, 745 to go right?). Damn that plastic rear window! Any tips for other items to check at the 3750 mark...besides what's listed on the maint schedule posted here (thanks sooo much)? Anyway, here's my first meeting with a vette.

We were going 75-77ish on I-69 North in MI, a late 70's Vette (sorry don't know my Vettes that well) was directly in front of me and another car on its right, unwittingly blocking me, temporarily, from pulling in the right lane. I noticed the guy in the vette looking back in his mirrors at me often as he soon accelerated to 80+ and pulled into the right lane, allowing me to pull up on his side. I stayed in 4th and looked over and saw him nod his head and heard him accelerate...I got left a bit but went with him saying to myself (

Good Kill. Older C3's ran 15-16 second 1/4 depending on what year. It doesn't sound like this one was stock though. Good job

yep the 79-82 vettes were pretty slow due to emission req and the gas crunch. Though IMHO it think that they were the prettiest vettes of all with that long nose low to the ground and the front spoiler with the built in turn indicator that flashed white light on the turn..Too bad they were the slowest of the group.

Yes, good story.

On a different note, how are things in good ole' South Bend? I went to Notre Dame there..........it's been a while since I've been back though (graduated in 1997). The last thing I heard is that there are many more new buildings on the campus.

Sorry for the tangent.

Well, not a great weekend here....somehow missed an Interstate trooper and well, will likely pay the price for 100+ in a 65...and the worst thing about it was I was actually just passing a line of trucks...5-6 of them strung out and when I slow down and pull over in front of them I see flashing lights waaaaaay in the rear so think "OK" waaaay too far back to be me and pull over in right lane ...let it throttle down (4th!) and say about 15 seconds later see the guy pulling behind me....honestly, the last number I saw was 81 and as 100 doesn't seem any different physically/mechanically...(yea, the tach was up there...but I really do watch the road when passing...). Seems like OH doesn't offer any infraction diversion programs...so...well, any suggestions out there would certainly be appreciated...as for campus life....

Wow...in campus life at ND that is a loooong time. Yes, there are a LOT of new buildings...but they all seem to fit in with the arua/style of the other. Have see only 5 S2K's in the area...student life a little (lot) subdued lately. Campus looks better than ever.

Thanks to any for any help.
