Default Question on etiquette

I was sort of playing with this Celica (new one)... actually he was speeding with a souped up Tercel.

Anyway, just to "join the party" I sped up, passed them, waited until they passed me and blew by them again.

Interestingly, the Tercel had a hard time catching up with us .

Anyway, I blew by him, slowed down, waited for him to catch up, etc. Finally, I decided to slow down. I lane changed over and he follows me and turns off his lights off for a second and then turns them back on.

So I am wondering if this is some sort of etiquette acknowledging that it was fun or is it because of our famous HID lights.

Just would like to know what the etiquette is... if there is such a thing.

Ciao.

have you every play...TOKYO RACING (or something like that) on Dream Cast....when you want to race someone on the h/w... go behind them and start flashing him.
I don't know why did he turned his light off, but that's the only conclusion i could think of.

Turning your lights off, then on, is used by big rig drivers to mean "I see you", or "Go ahead".

I've done this before when someone beats me in a race.... Don't know why I did it, but I think it's more respectful than just high beaming them.

A simple flashing of lights after a sprinted drive means that the other driver is trying to acknowledge a good run. Usually, is meant to say "bye" in a way. On the otherhand a 16 Wheeler on your tailpipe with brights on, means your going to slower sonny and either pullover or become a $32K speed bump. my.o2
Race safe!!

I'd go with what Qube said. I guess he just acknowledges you.

But about what Young said, when someone wants a race, the person high beams them for a sec to see if the other person wants to race. Only one guy has done this to me and couldn't catch up. It was some modded Civic.

A few flashes of the hazard lights is the most common way (around here) to announce your win. That's the only type of flashing I'm aware of that really means anything.

I think if someone blew by me, slowed down, then blew by me again, I'd flash my lights at him to say something - but not something nice. Probably looked pretty punkish.

I usually just flash my hazards too. On my CRX, I've got them hooked to a toggle so I can just keep them lit up. Alot of my friends were doing that so if you wanted to race, you'd just light them up to let the other driver know that you were ready.

Usually when me and my friends go at it on the hwy and the one in back turns out their lights its harder to see em comin up behind you so a pass is easier (we drive and block out losing racers) so maybe this is why he turned out his lights MAYBE
