Default Build it. Race It. Break it. Repeat.

Tonight started to be a simple night to go the track and have a good time, make a few passes, and hope that my buddy would lay down some good times in his CR.
I went with no hopes or expectations as far as times were concerned, seeing as how my personal best was a 12.4x@117 and I wasn't ashamed of it..
Then I made my first pass and blew that 12.4 out of the water..

1st Pass: Right lane) Wasn't expecting anything.. Made my pass, it felt solid, low and behold a 12.1 on my first pass. And this is where the problem started..
I've always wanted to hit 11's on street tires.. my previous best (12.4) said I was far from it.. this pass showed its right around the corner.

2nd pass: (Left lane) Water box was wet all the way acorss, couldnt get around it. Made my pass, unsatisfied. Spun first gear. Missed 2nd.

3rd pass: (Left lane) again, same issue. Didn't miss any gears. Unsatisfied.

* I'm thinking maybe I should hit the right lane again, it hooked up a lot better..*

4th pass: (Right Lane) Awesome, another 1.9x 60ft on street tires.. Two times in one day, right lane must really be better and not just a theory.. But I missed 4th.. and ran a sloppy 12.4..

3 bad runs in a row, It was time to park and relax.. plus the Walbro was whining a good bit from the drive to/on the track with no breaks.

30 minutes pass and I decide to run again.
Start my car and hear my clutch making a unpleasant chattering when the pedal is not depressed. Depress it and it goes away.
Eh.. just a clutch, I'll make one more and call it a night.

5th Pass: (Right lane) Solid all the way through, felt a slight clutch slip in 2nd gear. So close to 11's.. I'm super excited at this time..

Clutch noise is now quite a bit louder.. but eh, its just a clutch.. try for that 11 second slip once more..

6th pass: (right lane) Launch, bog, shift to 2nd, it grabbed then it disappeared.. No more second gear. Coast through 3rd, 4th, 5th. Exit, tell them I dont want my time slip.. it was prolly a 20 second pass @ 45mph.

Yup.. 2nd gear has bit the dust.
Tranny is making all sorts of weird noises from the gear being gone..

Drive it 40 miles back home.. assumingly all the chunks have settled by now since I no longer hear my noises at all..unless i shift to 2nd gear for the fun of it.

All in all I had a good time regardless of shattering 2nd gear.
Time for a race gas tune and turn it into highway warrior till either the motor pops, or the tranny pops another gear. Jk.. sorta.

Cliffs: Build it. Race it. Break it. Repeat.
Number hunting never fails to break some shit.

His CC4 clutch is a PITA. Kept sticking, Kept popping out of first gear on its own.
He's had problems with it since day 1, but his best of the night was a 12.97@116 with his clutch issues.

Sorry to hear about the broken tranny. It would seem i'm making similar power to you as my traps are in the 118's, although my best with direzza's with no real slipping was a 13.03@117. What turbo setup are you running and is that 14psi on stock compression with pump gas?

100% stock motor, never opened
Mase Engineering kit w/ 6262
93 Octane

Only difference on the track from the way I daily it was that I took off my air filter, as if it makes much difference.

I spun in the left lane but oddly the right lane had minimal wheel spin last night.
Cutting a 1.90 60' was dam near amazing, to me. The Star Specs are definitely the best street tire I've ever owned. Almost 5k miles on them and still have a bunch of tread depth on them, not to mention they stick like a m-fer rain or shine. Last night I did some pretty decent burnouts and got them pretty sticky and burned a lot of tire off, but even then the tires still have over another 5k miles left in them at least.

My buddy attempted at recording.. but I watched the vids and even I can't tell what was going on.. He's a tard.
