I've driven several C5's, and he either wasn't really racing or his car wasn't running right. That car is much faster in a straight line.

I really don't understand some of these replies! Do you think I make this stuff up or something. It was a new 2001 yellow conv. vette! We went from late 3rd to 4th gear and we stayed even through 4th. Why is it so hard to believe!

Did I say, "S2000 is faster in a straight line and I beat him," or did I just say I got him by a little bit. Maybe we should just hire professional drivers to race our cars so then it might be believable, how about that?

I just posted the thread because I felt like a million bucks beating him! Is it bad for me to celebrate it with my fellow s2k collegues.

P.S. Oh and he did mash the gash all the way, Red Blur was in the car with me!!!!

congrads about the SS! I just get a little pissed off when someone challenges me about my stories. I am not that stupid about cars. I know full well the capabilities of the vette, and that is why I was so pleased with the win!

Sounds like your freind has a sweet vette!

I think in 3rd gear highway pulls, it's very possible for an S2000 to run with or even best a C5. I would say in general the Vette will win but there are many variables (tranny, coupe or covert., might be a POS vette that sort of thing). I didn't have the chance to run a C5 on the highway stock but have raced a couple since I'm boosted and in highway pulls (60-120 range) I pull on C5's BADLY. I could definitely see a stock S with a good driver making it a race.

it was a conv. yellow 2001 vette. Also, my stook wasn't stock, I have a SPOON exhaust and the airbox cut. There is no way I could have stayed with him let alone pulled him with a stock S2000.

That SPOON Exhaust made a HUGE difference....

BTW, the C5's came out in 97.

Good Kill, it sounds like you know exactly what happened. You're handling this right. Any car can beat any other car on any given day. Sounds like you found the right car on the right night with the right driver. Again, Good Kill

So you think all of the professional import drag racers who make their yearly salary drag racing Civics, Integras, and Focuses are just dumb - because the original designer of the car didn't design the car to do that? If it can be done, why is it so confusing?
