One thing I cant stand is when people come in here and talk trash just to start a fight. If one of my fellow S2k owners started saying they beat a Z06 off the line, I would be putting him/her straight as well..
Just to harp on a point:
Did anyone notice that Big TT's 4 posts have all been in this particular thread? I get the feeling that someone opened an account just to make a smack-talking post (and an unfounded one, at that).
Multiple reputable sources (Edmunds, Car and Driver, etc.) have listed statistics for these two vehicles, and although it can be argued that their stats aren't going to be perfect, I think we can all agree that they are at least impartial. Why is it that Big TT's story doesn't fit with any recorded numbers, or any personal experience of S2k drivers on this board?
Just to add another point, the S2000 was built from scratch - the TT was built on an existing chassis that certainly wasn't made for a sports car. I was looking at TT's and was seriously considering one until I read about the chassis; it was enough to completely turn me 180 degrees. Take a hard, fast corner in an S2000 and then try to call your TT a "sports car."

All I can say after driving my boss' TT Quattro (225 hp) is that it's no match for an S2000 (as far as performance is concerned).
First of all, there's that damn turbo lag. The car doesn't seem to have any grunt until you hit 3000 rpm or so. And critics say the S2000 doesn't have any low-end torque? Think about driving a car that is heavier than the S2000 and with a smaller engine producing less torque until that turbo kicks in! By the time that turbo spools up, you're grabbing for another gear because that low redline is calling out.
Secondly, the shifter felt so sloppy and vague. I wasn't sure I was going into the right gear because of the long throws and the lack of precision.
Thirdly, I'd feel uneasy driving this car hard due to the amount of body roll and pitch. The only saving grace was the Quattro and electronically controlled systems to keep the car from getting into too much trouble.
The TT is a fashion statement. The S2000 is a performance statement. I'd choose the S2000 any day.
