Default Dinan E36

I was criusing around this weekend and ran up on the back of an E36 M3 with a Dinan plaque on the back and an aftermarket exhaust. So I was finally going to get to race my first E36 M3, and had to be modded one at that. So I rode his ass for a little while and then he began to cut through traffic pretty hard so I knew he wanted to run. All the sudden traffic cleared a little and he threw down and I threw down into 2nd at about 45, i stayed right on his bumper through 2nd and 3rd not gaining at all, then I put into 4th and my car shot forward and I about hit him in the rear, so i had to peddle it for a second so that i wouldn't hit him in the rear and so he could maintain his lead and then we continued to run out 4th until he smashed the brakes. It always seems like the S2000 is so strong in 4th gear!!
I pulled up next to him as we were rolling down the road and he wouldn't acknowledge me I think he was shocked that I was so strong on his modded M3.

Don't you have to spend a certain amount of money through Dinan to get that badge? Must've been pretty modded.

PS...i remember a Dinan badge sold on ebay for $600!!! some people got too much money on their hands.

Dinan badge doesn't mean the car has engine mods. Hell, you can buy/steal a badge for that matter.

9K is right....techinically, a Dinan badge means a certain level of mods have been added. The way it's supposed to work is that each mod has a specific number of points associated with it, and a badge requires x amount.

I agree i Dinan badge alone dosen't mean much but when the car maks a popping noise and crackling when he shifts usually means there is something done. It was pretty damn raspy!!!

In San Francisco, there are a million AC Shnitzer and Dinan Beemers. I never knew that the Dinan badge was only given after a certain level of modification. Nevertheless, I still smoke Dinan 3 series (never tried an M yet, but them bone stock E36 M's are pretty fast in their own right). Wait till I get my car boosted, then I'll start hunting the E46 M's . Latez!

I'm sure that he/she bought the Dinan badge off ebay. You have to be pretty damn ignorant to spend nearly 7k just for a badge. I have some Dinan on mine, but I bought either wholesale or second-hand. I need to meet up w/ the infamous Houstooks so we can compare again. Nice race.

Yeah, I would like to race a stock E36, but so far I can't get one to go. I try to get into it with an E46 convertible the other night and he wouldn't play. I know he'll pretty much smoke me, but it's fun to see other car run on you occasionally. Maybe next time

frayed,

Yes I have. I raced Houstooks when I had a Dinan CIA & Upgraded Software (+10-12HP).

vs. Phantom I won most of the races, and lost one when my clutch started slipping.

vs. LIPS won by about 2 cars

vs. Wesmaster lost like by 3+ cars up to 100.

I've learned to launch better so I'm curious to see how I do now. Frayed, I've seen you on the bimmer board. You drive a M3?
