Default Dyno update

Just a quick update for some of you guys who are familiar with my car. I went in and got dyno tuned at GRD in Naperville. Lol, a sobering experience. The 1st thing the guy tuning my car said was "this sounds funny." We looked around and discovered an exhaust leak. The funny thing is, my car has sounded this way since I installed a pipe in November, so I've been driving around with this for several months. The guy also said my stock muffler is strangling my performance. So my numbers were

235 whp
221 wtq

This is about 40 whp short of where the guy tuning my car said I'm supposed to be. So I'm fixing the leak, getting a new muffler and heading back. I thought it felt fast at 235 whp, can't wait to see how it feels at 275-280 whp

I had left the stock muffler on there because, from the outside, my car looks totally stock. I was willing to take the loss of a few hp to keep it quiet/stock looking, but I dont want to chop 25 whp, thats just too much.

My car has IHI VF-34 turbo, STi injectors, Walbro 255 lph fuel pump, Catless up pipe, 3" stealth-back exhaust w/ 1 high flow cat, UTEC engine management, TXS top mounted intercooler.

The whole setup is a "kit" from turboxs, I pieced it together on my own but the components are the same except for my stock muffler.

3" all the way back and I bet you wonder why played around w/ a muffler. Don't take this the wrong way but I've learned what my modding goals and limits are over the years and why waste money on a muffler when you eventually upgrade the rest anyway. Just go 3" all the way back and loose the cats if you can... my guess is you won't have any trouble cracking 275. Congrats anyway... those things are monsters out of the hole... I've lost to every WRX I've ever race for most of first gear, good thing for me it ends there.

your WRX is constipated... slap on a 3 inch straight thru. With your mods you are holding back at least 15 HP. Get a magnaflow or sebring muffler, nothing ricey like a HKS so you can keep your stock look.

Hows it going Jem. I am suprized at those numbers. That car felt hell of a lot faster than 235hp. You would walk the crap out of me on rolls and oh I love your car it's the altimate sleaper. The only thing that could say somthing would be the sti hood scoop. Oh by the way hows your car? Did the body shop do a good job. I hope to see you around considering we live in the same area.

Hey Marty! Yeah the cars back in shape, bodyshop did a great job, thanks for asking! It still smells like paint though. I'm giving up on looking like a sleeper and going for performance heh. The weather should be nice soon, I'll pm you my cell phone we can go cruise around and I can drool over your convertible top hehe.

edit : 235 whp (figuring around 30% loss for awd) is still 305 hp at the crank. It definitely wasn't "slow", it just wasnt running where it should be
