E46 denied.
Yes, I know an E46 is faster than an S2000, so take your flames elsewhere.
Yet again, I find myself on Sunset Blvd. with someone who needs to prove his car is faster. We started off from the straights in Beverly Hills and headed West into the canyons. I started off in front at 45 mph in 3rd gear and he quickly switched lanes to the left and gunned it. I didn't downshift and I gunned it as well, and surprisingly enough, he didn't gain. The first sharp turn came up and he backed off behind me, still in the left lane, and we took the turn. For the next 3-4 turns I pushed close to the limit and he stayed in back, never taking or never having an opportunity to pass. I suppose he did the smart thing and avoided passing during a turn, but there were some pretty decent straights that he probably could have used to pass. We pushed it through the next few miles of twisty roads and red lights and he never once was able to get ahead. I made my left, gave him a thumbs up, and he continued on his way.
I don't know if he was an inexperienced driver, didn't want to push his luck, or a little bit of both, but the fact remains that he was unable to pass at any time. I wouldn't necessarily call this a kill, but still a fun race nonetheless.

So what was it? "e46" denotes the current 3 series build platform. Within that platform, there is the M3, 330, 325.....
Sounds like it was a 330ci, not an M3. Cause you would get your ass handed to you on a long strait...no doubt.

More than often, I would push just enough to see what the other car can do. Maybe that's what he did...?
45mph in 3rd? Since you didn't downshift, E46M3 (if it was M3) could have passed you like you are standing still if he wanted. No offense but that's just how it is. So if that E46 was pushing, it probably was 325 or 330. But then, maybe your car is one of those FIS2000s with all supporting mods?

It was an M3, I didn't know the E46 meant all of those models under that platform.
Like I said, I would have thought he'd have an opportunity to pass, but he didn't. However after he changed lanes on that first straight we had a corner coming up very soon and I don't think he wanted to risk it.
