Default The "elusive" VR-4

This seems to be a hot topic. So what's the deal. Let's hear about everyone's encounters. Wins or losses against a VR-4. Personally, I have 2 kills so far in the VR-4 category. Also, does anyone have official times from mitsubishi on the VR-4? It may also be that since we seem to hear both sides of an even argument, that the cars are closely enough matched that it comes down to driver.

The VR-4 has an advantage off the line in stock form. Add to that the fact that almost all I've seen are at least mildly modded, and beating one off the line is tough.

I am not sure but I think its a lot closer from a roll.

I have beaten 91 VR-4(0 to 100MPH). 1/2car length to 1 car length. That's my another car, anyway.
But I've lost to pre 94 with some modifications. He said he had intake, exhaust, and boost controller, etc.

With just intake/exhaust/boost controller, the VR-4 should hand us our ass quite handily

1st gen VR4 are slightly slower than the S2000. You should be able to beat a stock one, especially from a roll.

2nd gen VR4 are slightly faster than the S2000. You _might_ be able to hang with one from a roll or even beat it. A properly driven VR4 will beat you off the line.

Of course, throw a couple of mods on VR4's and the game is over. But that's another story...

I raced a 2nd Gen with mods (upgraded turbo, intake, exhaust) and my ass was handed to me. Good kill though!

This is interesting timing...I just found a guy on one of the local web boards that has a VR-4 but loves S2000's, so I asked him if he would mind racing me on stock boost. He's still got a few mods, which should even out with my intake and exhaust fairly well, so we'll see. I think he appears to be a pretty good driver as well. I'll go from a roll and a stop just to try it out. His is a '94, so its not the latest.

Please let us know what happens. It will be interesting to get those results. I also have found someone locally who has the newest and last version of the VR4. both of our cars are stock so we will race soon. He has no problem with it. However, we in wisconsin have to deal with this "snow" first.

LOL! Down here in Texas, we have to deal with this damned 50 degree weather...bunch of cold crap if you ask me...

But this should happen Sat. night or so, so I'll let ya'll know afterwords!

This guy sure as hell beats all the 300ZX owners I've met and tried to get to race. He's really cool and really has no problem doing this. The 300ZX owners, on the other hand....
