Default Even more highway 9 fun.

Like I do daily I went up to highway 9 for a drive for fun since college hasn't started, things started off pretty slow, couple trucks and mini vans ended up in front of me which was kind of a bummer. Although they turned off whenever a turn off came up or a spot on the side of the road came. Major to these people for actually beign curteous!!

Eventually this motorcylce turns off a side road and ends up in front of me. Great! Now I can have some fun . I'm not sure what kind of bike it was, but definately american, possibly a Harely. So the bike starts going pretty fast, about 55 mph, I go to keep up and more or less do when I notice there is a 4 wheel truck up ahead going fairly slow. By now we're in pretty hardcore twisties but because of the truck we're forced to slow down.

Then something I didn't expect happened; the truck guns it hard . The bike goes after him and so do I, but after a couple turns the bike starts to slow down a lot. I wondered why, then saw his tires; the guy got a flat . So he pulls off the road.

Because of the bike slowing down the off road truck got a 5 car lead. So I go into 3rd gear and push up hard, and after 4-5 twisits I catch up to him, he's stll running pretty hard, and by now I was extremely impressed at how well he was taking the turns and the speeds he was able to do them at.

I drive this road almost daily, so I pretty much have it memorized and knew that a turn off lane was going to come up soon and this turn off is in a turn, more importantly I knew a very tight turn comes up right after that turn off. So the turn off comes, I go to the outside lane, downshift and go. I go into Vtec before the turn and pull on the truck, slow down for the turn afterwards and take it with no problems. By now I have having so much fun I went faster on the lighter twisties and soon the truck was no where in sight.

Never knew off road cars could take turns like that though.

Some of them can pull acceptable G's in a turn... it's what happens when they break loose that's scary.

Trucks wanting to race in the twisties is just hilarious especially against an S. I had that experience once. This huge pickup like a Ford F250 or somehting like that decides to gun it. I come up to this sharp turn doing about 60 and the truck follows suit. Next thing is I hear his tires begin to give and the truck sliding off the road. Luckilly he caught it just in time to save is own ass. I just find it hilarious why some truck drivers think they can take a sharp turn like a sports car can.

No worries I'm careful =). One of my friends crashed up there and totalled his civic, I only go fast when uphill so I have more control and always drive in day, never night. But thanks for the warning

Did he crash just after the 236 turnoff and end up half-way up on a cement divider? I live out there and saw a civic that had done that.

Naw he crashed before Vista Point, going downhill, was driving in dark and didnt' see a turn so he turned suddenly and dropped a wheel or two into the gutter ... it didn't turn him like it does in Initial D but tossed his car onto the drivers side and slid a bit before stopping. Luckily he came out with just some bruises and cuts, car was totalled though. EK9 civic.
