Bikes and the S
I had a fun situation with a biker the other day.
I’m driving on a quite nice road between Banbury and Coventry and a see a bike coming up behind me.
There’s 1 car in front of me holding me up so I ease back to give the bike some space to leapfrog me – I wave him by but he stays back.
I get a clear space, I see the bike isn’t going for it so I pass the front car and then have some fun on the curves up ahead… all along the bike is sitting behind me – I don’t get the impression he’s trying to overtake or trying to even race – he’s just holding position and I guess having fun.
We both pass another slow mover on a straight bit and then do the same on the next set of corners.. after that I come up to a convoy of 4 or 5 cars so I ease off and the bike overtakes and I get a wave from the pillion passenger.
I’ve never had this before.
In the truck or the audi if I see a bike behind I just let them pass and they go on their way.
Does the S encourage this sort of play?
Was it a weird biker? Can I expect it again?
Are there any sort of ‘unwritten rules’ about this sort of thing apart from just being safe and not being a d*ck and causing a crash?
I didn’t get any sort of feeling of antagonism, it seemed like a friendly wave from the bike rather than giving me the bird and on the corners he wasn’t trying to overtake.
It reminded me of a dolphin playing with a boat.
I had exactly the same thing a few months back, and it also finished with a little wave of acknowledgment. Think it was a thumbs-up, actually. Made for a very pleasant journey, as you realise not everyone on the road is a tw@t.

As for rules if you're ahead I'd suggest just continue with your drive as if the bike wasn't there.
If you're behind then please don't follow too closely - cars can catch up where there are tight blind bends as we have to adjust our speed so we can stop in what we can see ahead of us. If the road is open then we'll be gone anyway.
I've had a very similar situation (as a biker) with a guy in a DB9 when I had a GSXR 600. We played for around ten miles from kingsbridge o Plymouth. Nowt too fast, just an enjoyable quick paced ride. He waved and I nodded as he turned off to go home. Its like a mutual respect between people who have toys.
Its fine as long as your both of the same attitude and leave your ego's at home.

It's a lot more fun if you are both driving/riding in a spirited fashion than trying to overtake each other.
