Evo IX vs. 335i
my IX has turbo back exhaust w/ test pipe, manual boost controller peaking 23psi, drop-in filter, fuel pump, and a road tune.
the 335i is a 6spd manual sedan, with the PROcede tune.
the runs were done at around 1am, the road was pretty much deserted.
we did dozens of runs, from 2nd gear 40mph, 3rd gear 60mph, 4th gear 80mph. it was a comparison run, since i wanted to see how a lightly modded Evo IX would do against an even more lightly modded 335i.
in short, we were dead even from any speed up to 110mph, after which the 335i would pull a car on me up to 130-140mph. 5th gear on the Evo stinks, and a coefficient of drag of around .35 (i'm wingless, so a bit less) doesn't help either.
all in all this is consistent with what's on paper: any typical IX with my mods is making 310-330whp/305-320wtq on a dynojet, whereas a tuned 335i is making 315-330whp/350-370wtq on a dynojet - both cars on 91 oct. keep in mind the 335i weighs in at 357x lbs, while my IX 32xx lbs.
both cars with there mods/power level are good for 85-88mph in the 1/8th, and 108-111mph in the 1/4. from the result of the race from a dig i should keep the distance i put on the 335i from the launch all the way till after the 1/4 mile mark, afterwhich the 335i will walk by.
just thought i'd share. the 335i's are no doubts beasts. after the stock downpipe and 2 cats are removed and a decently sized turbo back is in place, the 335i should get pretty crazy, not to mention their potential on 100 oct. (there isn't a map out for it yet)

link has 3 videos. my IX has an VIII front bumper.
edit: i apologize since this encounter doesn't include an s2000, but the Evo boards don't condone street racing, and i thought sharing this would give some of the s2000 owners a good idea of how quick a tuned 335i is. stock for stock the race looks pretty similar between the IX and 335i as well.
if this post trips out too many people i'll delete it

Looks like the 335i was just a tad faster in all those vids. You can tell, though, you were keeping up at lower speeds in the 40mph vid. Had you started from a dig I don't think the 335i would have been able to catch you.
WalkedU is a cool guy, he was one of the first PROceded 335i's.

BMW 335i: $43,445
EVO IX MR: $36,546
Difference: $6,899
EVO IX + $6,899 = death to a 335i from any speed, in any gear, at any rpm. The rape would be so bad with an RS I won't even quote the price difference.

Well I guess if the 335i was made to be a teenage boy toy you might have proved something. My point is, the cars aren't weren't meant to be compared.
But since we are so caught up with prices, I'll just point out that yours are wrong (as per the manufacturer's websites).
BMW 335i starts at $38,900
EVO IX MR starts at $36,200
But why even worry about this type of thing to begin with? It was a nice race between cars you never really see line up that often. Let's try not to start bashing cars or their value.

BTW, there is nowhere on earth you can buy a 335i for $38,9, they ALL come with a load of extra equipment. And as for the price of the EVO, dealers are giving them away, an MR can easily be had for less than $34.
Pipe - stick it - smoke it - choke on it.

Keep your shirt on, I'm not bashing anything, I'm simply comparing performance cars and their prices.
