so i was just wonderng... will my ap1 beat an evo 9 from a 45-50mph roll?? my only mods are exhaust and test pipe...
I doubt it, u can try maybe an evo 8 but evo IX are faster. Friend of mine w a IX and a open downpipe, custom tune ran high 11s, with a meth kit he ran low 11s. You have a better shot messing with an viii.

Sometimes people confuse the 2004-2006 Sti's slower roll speed with the Evo. The WRX and STI have tiny turbo's that spool fast and give good low and mid range power but choke on the top end.

The 2007 sti has new turbo though so all bets are off. The EvoIX has a different turbo as well that does NOT have problems on the top end. Also the 2005 VIII MR's (maybe all 2005 evo's) got the 10.5 hotside and run better on the top compared to previous models.

2007 sti.. Not all bets are off yet.. I've ran 2 2007 sti's and I pulled on one and was even with the other. Both were from a roll.

When I had my Evo 8 S2K were no match from a roll, granted mine had a few mods + cams, it wasnt even close. I remember running a friend from a roll and he couldnt believe how hard I pulled him and he hit it first. The 10.5 hotside did help a lot on the newer Evo's but just cams on mine made a huge difference.

The S2000 is just not a drag racing machine.
Evo aren't drag machines either. It just evo are much easier to make high power with less money. Either car you can make it as a drag car.

Someone on this board said the 04-06's have smaller turbos which states the top end of the 04-06 STi's are not very good. I disagree... I have a Stage 2 STi and I've raced at least 5 evos that I can remember at the top of my head. And I've beat them all on top end. The only evo 8 I've lost to had an intake, downpipe, exhaust, fuel pump, reflash, 272 i/e cams, upgraded fmic, injectors, and a methanol injection kit and was boosting at 25psi when he ran me. Even with all of those mods... I was still dead even with him throughout 2nd gear in which we started and 3rd gear. It wasn't until fourth gear that I started losing by 1 car and a half. It basically took a VERY well modified evo to take me out. So all this crap where STi's are slower then evos is not true. If anything I should say that an evo with the same exact mods as me will not pull on me. Now evo 9's and 07 STi's I know I won't want a piece of them. I know where I stand with those boys. But a 2003-2005 evo I will do pretty well against them as long as they have minor bolt ons like myself. Even a cammed evo I will give some trouble to.

My buddy just got 272 i/e cams b/c with a bolt ons and a tune he could not take out my STi. LOL So he ended up getting those cams to beat my ass finally.
