I was talking to a kid in a rx8 tonight at a light. We complimented each other, and he asked if my car was fast. I wanted to say "faster than yours PUNK!" but I just said it wasn't bad. We got to the next light and I rolled down my window to see if he wanted to give it a go (I am anti rev) but as I was trying to get his attention, the light turned green and he nutted it. He's probably going to tell all his wankel buddies he beat an s2k. Crap.

 

Hmm.. so far I've never ran across a rx-8 that wanted to run with me. I've ran across a couple rx7's tho with some cute girls behind the wheel. Didn't get a chance to talk or anything, just had a lil fun reving. Btw, rx8 owners don't seem really nice either, even when I flash them my usaual peace sign

 

i think its the most ridiculous thing of all time that the rx-7 is crazy fast stock and the rx-8 is rather slow.

 

They made it more luxury then anything, for the every day driver IMHO.

nto to talk crap about the rx-8 or anything.. but i have the special issue on the rx-8 by car and driver.. and it says the closest competition to the rx-8 is the honda s2000.. the rx-8 0-60 is 6.1.. how can that be a "close" competition.. i wanted the rx-8 so bad before i found out that it was much slower then the S.. and so much more expsensive!! (for the best model) i was shocked.. i walked into a mazda dealership.. and the sticker was close to 34!! i immediately walked outta there and went and got my 04 S.. (after stoppin by to a mitsu dealer to check out evos =D)

You guys would not believe this.
Just returned from driving tonight and drove pass by Easton Town Center area. There was silver E46 M3 and RX8 going at each other. RX8 was dolphin gray color and had mazda speed body kit with exhaust and it sounded wicked.

I was with my boss so couldn't join the fun but M3 was good 3-4 cars ahead of RX8 and they were heading I270 west bound towards worthington at tripple digit speed.

I so wanted to join them for some good fun but oh well, I had to behave!

 

wow, they have rediculous markup and/or added tons of shxt you dont really need and is unecessarily expensive. a standard Grand Touring package gets you xenons, fog lights, DCS, an LSD (not on base model surprisingly), 18" wheels, bigger breaks, "sport tuned suspension" 300 watt, 9-speaker bose stereo, power sunroof, all leather interior, 8-way power driver seat, heated front seats, power lumbar support and anti-fog mirrors, with an MSRP of just a tad under 31k. i saw em at a local dealer going for about 32k 33 at the MOST, but those had the optional 6 disc in-dash and a couple other options. if you want navigation along with a fully loaded GT, then 34 isnt that bad. but navi is completely unecessary for any compitent driver ;P

 

I would say that with exhaust, intake, and computer mods, an RX8 would be somewhat close to an S2000 with exhaust, intake, and V-AFC.

From what I have read on the RX8 forum, there is some power to be had with mods.
