Default First kill...Mustang w/ cocky driver and buddy

OK i've had my car since June 2001 and i've never had anyone rev on me until last Friday night.

I was with my lady and we were going down this 3 lane street at speed limit (35mph). There was a Mustang 5.0 convertible in the middle lane ahead of me that was going about 25-30mph, so I switched over to the left lane pass him up. As soon as I slowly pass him, he jams on the gas and kinda zooms ahead then slows down. Vroom vroom vroom, I heard him taunting me. I look over and he's kinda looking at me with this "my car will kill your Honda look," and his buddy is kinda talkin to him laughing while looking at my ride. So he keeps going faster than slower, then faster.

By this time it's kinda bugging me and my lady is like, "what is he doing?" I told her that he's trying to race me and then my girlfriend asks if I can take him. So I say what the hell, and downshift to 2nd (right into the sweetspot of vtec) and hit WOT. My car suddenly comes to life and I see him gas it but then slowly drift away.

We come to a stop light and he revs me on at the light. "Too many cars here in the intersection to full on fly out," so I wait (not only that but I didn't want to rish roasting the clutch at 6500k). The light turns green and he kinda waited to see what I was going to do. Well, I drove off the line normally and got rolling to 35. Again he starts reving and pulling up next to me and slowing down. I look over and give him the look and we take off. I hear him kinda chirp, but by then he was in my rear view mirror slowly drifting back. I had him twice. I guess the second time was for his confirmation.

I slowed it back down to 35mph and he slowly passed me up without looking at me. (maybe he was feeling kinda stupid & surprised). Anyhow his buddy didn't look at me either, but he put up an OK sign to me.

Hehe first kill was a stang. Such a nice feeling to be able to shut them down when you have to.

Good job, K!

...it's addicting, isn't it! What mods do you have again? I forget things...

I couldn't help but to laugh while reading your encounter. I don't like cocky mustang drivers! It seems like some people out there underestimate the S2000's speed. Sure it's not the fastest car out there, but it's pretty fast!

Next time, take him off the line too ... what good is a nice clutch if you don't launch it from 7500 rpms once in awhile? Racing is addictive ... just like speed.
