My 01 would only sidestep once If you tried again soonafter you burned up the clutch. My 00 will do it with much more ease and frequency ...
The 00 also feels like it has some gravel in the gearbox when compared to the 01 which is buttery smooth.

I clutch dump anywhere from 4-10 times per day at each autocross event, stock clutch (and diff) is still holding up at 35k miles. You gotta spin the tires, dont feather the clutch and don't bog.

while the torque tends to go down a bit, it's still easily making useable power. so to say that it's "losing power" in the sense that it's hurting acceleration would really be incorrect. redline/fuel cutoff is the optimal shift point.
