Default First Run With My Gears

Well, they have been broken in and reflushed. I have been waiting about a week to get a run in with my friends 04 M6 GTO. We did 4 runs, I went with just my gears, no bottle.

1st Run: 30 - 100: I pulled about a 1/4 of a car on him through 2nd, 3 rd stayed the same, 4th he pulls about half a car, I stop his pull when he shifts to 4th, we cut it down.

2nd & 3rd Runs: 65 - 115: I inched up a little bit from 65 - 80, once I shift to 4th he pulls half a car while he is finishing out his 3rd gear. He shifts to 4th and I stop his pull until I shift to 5th at which time he pulls 2/3 another car on the way to 115 ~120.

4th Run: 80 - 135: We both start in 4th, huge advantage for me. I pull a little over a car on him while in 4th, shift to 5th and he starts to regain a little bit of ground, as I ride out fifth we pass a car, he goes to the inside so I lose him in my mirrors, I shift to 6th, look around again for him and then he passes me like I'm standing still and laughing at the look on my face

This is a vast improvement over stock gears. I could never stop his pull in 4th prior to my gears. Anything over 90 he was pulling on me hard and now he didn't start pulling hard until around 110.

Nice, very nice!

Are we talking the new gto's with 400 horse and a new hood, Or the older style with 350hp. If its the pre 400 horse, I was dead even with a M6 one from 40-110 might have been the driver though.

honestly gear is the best bang for the buck, You might not win all the time but damn atleast you can put up a fight now. I really want to see a 04 + 4.57 gear or 4.77 gear vs a stock E46. That race will be good. If any of you guys can set it up and record it. Thanx a whole bunch =P

Good race though man! to hang with a GTO

are you stock btw beside gears ?

It was the 350hp version, and from 40 - 110 it was pretty darn even because I pull on him a bit from 40-60 and then he pulls on me from 80 - 95(while he is finishing out 3rd and I have gone to 4th). I do have to give my friend props though, he has been working on his shifting and made enormous strides. He left no room for error, he is shifting his Goat like Wisconsin shifts the S in his vid... No doubt, I was very impressed, especially with a slush box like the Goat has.

My mods durring the race were I/E 4.57 Gears. I have Nirous, but I didn't use it so I could see how much the gears make a difference, plus I'm sure my friend gets tired of smelling Nitrous fumes from my exhaust as I blow him away

heh, pretty cool

sorry if its a bit off topic, but since an AP1 with 4.57 FD is substantially quicker than a stock AP1, how would the modded AP1 compare to a stock AP2?

it would compare the exact same it would to a stock ap1.

the ap2 and ap1 are even. neither is faster than the other.
