I raced a older model mustang, not sure what year, but the side of the car said it had a 5.0 liter V8, such and such, so theres a 10 mile road that is a stretch of absolute nothing and this is where we raced. Started off and bolted off in 1st around 6k rpm, and got way ahead of em pretty fast, but he gained on me seriously and then as he was next to me, i hear something like his engine was just tearin to crap, he then laughed, but i swear he was sprayin, and accuaed him of it, and he declined using the bottle or havin turbos?? Was he tellin crap? We didnt go the whole 10 miles, just about a mile but he did get me.... not to mention he was smokin pretty bad after.

 

There's so many fast 5.0 Mustangs out there (and even 4.6's now). They are so cheap to buy and mod (I've seen less than $5K for a ratty LX 5.0), I'd believe him.

 

There are very fast 5.0's out there. Even the old, beat up ones can still be quick and fast. The thing about american cars is that even though they may not look so hot, you can never tell how fast they will be... As far as the noise, it could be anything. If he was spraying, he would have done it at the line, and had it going before he took off. But other than that, sounds like a fun time.
