Default Geared AP1 vs modded evo MR

Well I was driving home from my friends house and a steel grey evo MR passed me at one of the lights. I thought nothing of it at first. We drove down the street a bit and naturally the light up ahead turned red . He had tinted windows so I couldn't see if he wanted to race but I could see some blue gauges on his a pillar (plus it sounded modded to some degree) so I wasn't sure if racing was the best idea . I decided to take off slowly and maybe do a roll if he wanted to...he did. Started in 2nd doing about ~45 and gunned it. I instantly got a jump, due to turbo lag , then he creeped past me and started pulling ahead. By about ~90 he was ahead by approx 1 to maybe 2 car lengths and still pulling. I let off and we did another little run from ~65 in my 3rd gear to about 80 (hard turn coming up). Again I got the jump and he crept past me and pulled.

All in all definatly fun. Wish I could have won but I know how fast those evo MRs are stock let alone modded. I couldn't find out what he had under the hood so I cant compare myself to others but it must have been something

Remember, I have 4.57 gears so 45 in 2nd and 65 in 3rd is right in my powerband. To bad it only helped until his turbo spooled up. We'll see next time when I have my supercharger in

Nice run Jon!

Every time I see an Evo....I am reminded of this article:
S2000 is better than Evo

EDIT: It always makes me smile and laugh because its written from such a fanboi perspective, which results in the article not having much true substance.

Yeah the 57 gears area easily the best bang for the buck modification. They add a good amount of "torque" to a motor that really could use some (lets not get started on a debate about it however).

The real question is going to be how gears are with FI. I'll be reporting back with that when the day of my install and tune comes

Everytime you feel inferior you have to read someone's biased article to feel better?

This is the interweb; nothing is actually serious and written word is horrible at showing intent.

the EVO and S2k are nothing alike and should really never be put in the same class of car or compared. occsionally they meet and the street and yes a stock s2k can keep up with a stock evo, but thats where any kind of comparo has to stop.

that article is laced with pure Honda fanboi stupidity, and i have owned about 17 or so hondas so i think i can speak on the matter. its stuff like that that makes me stick up for the s2k owners that live in reality when im over on Evom.

sounds like a good race, a 4.57'd s2k is no joke from a low speed roll.
