Default geared s2000 vs new M roadster

edmunds compared it to the boxster S. says it's the performance bang for the buck being slightly cheaper than the porsche. boxster S commonly compared to S2000. ergo, what do you guys think M roadster vs S2000. obviously acceleration goes to the M, so throw in a geared S2000.

btw, the M cost more than a M3 coupe.

1998 BMW M3 Convertible M-Roadster

Engine 3.2-liter,DOHC, 24-valve inline 6-cylinder 3.2-liter,DOHC, 24-valve inline 6-cylinder

Horsepower 240 240

Torque 236 lb feet 236 lb feet

0-60 mph 5.8 seconds 5.6 seconds

1/4 mile 14.5 seconds @ 97 mph 14.3 seconds @ 98 mph

Well... from these stats that I took from motorweek's road tests it seems to me that a stock S2K would would keep up just fine. Seems like it would be a driver's race. But with a geared S2K... from these stats... the S2K would come out victorious.

oh damn... my bad. Yeah... the new M-Z4 is wicked. Don't know really any specs on it but I'm sure it's breathe-taking.

Any and all specs that I have seen on the Z4M are 5.0 0-60... I expect it will hit at least m3 numbers since it is the same engine so put it at 4.8 0-60 and 13.0 1/4 mile

I imagine it will smoke a stock S2k but I wouldn't except anything less from a performance oriented vehicle with such a high price tag. With a SC and 300ish WHP, the new M will be toast!

it'll be faster in the straight line, but will lack in the corners compared to the S2000.
