sorry to hear what happened. Get a good lawyer, and that's about the best advice ANY of us here can really give you. Ignore the smart-ass comments ( but i hope you learned your lesson.) None of us here drive at the speed limit anywayz~

Good luck, man~

Looks like in VA that any speed over 80 is reckless driving. Seems to be a Class 1 misdemeanor--which is a is a bit different than an ordinary traffic infraction.

Get a local lawyer and good luck.

The State Trooper got us at 92mph. That's what he claimed, but when I looked down at the speedometer, I was going only about 86 at most.

Just trying to figure out what will happen to me in court. I have a few speeding tickets under my record.
The difference between 92 and 86 is only 6 mph which is nominal. It's speeding and your ARE going to take responsibility for it whether you like my smart ass comments or not.

Posting that you already have speeding tickets tells me that whatever you get....you deserve.

Don't waste your time with a lawyer....

"Pay the cost, to be the Boss"

I'm not perfect.......I've had tickets before. But I'm not the one posting my driving history on the forum and getting arrested for speeding.

We got pulled over once in VA and the trooper said we were doing 87, but we had the cruise control set at 100.

We were driving back from Florida to NJ, and I had my friend from Ireland driving at the time. The cop didn't know what to do about the International license, so he gave him a warning (nice souvenir) and off we went.

Of course, as I keep saying, if enough people voted Libertarian we wouldn't have to worry about this crap.

I've read the LP platform, but I guess I missed the part where they want to repeal all traffic laws....

You and the Commonwealth of VA disagree as they specifically list anything over 80, regardless of the speed limit, as a violation. 20 over is not the only guideline.

.

I like your rules better, though.
Well they have to disagree since speed limit on 495 and 395 are 55 mph,so of course anything over 80 is reckless because that'll be 25mph.

One of the things I learned a while ago from a lawyer-friend of mine (and has been repeated several times since by others) is that WE are responsible for knowing the law. It is not the government's job to inform us on a per-usage-of-specific-law basis.

A thing that is becoming more and more apparent to me as I'm driving my new s2k is that fore-knowledge of speeding laws is crucial. While most police where I live are VERY friendly, the fact of the matter is, a police chief (and friend) of mine looked at my car and declared it "a ticket waiting to happen."

The cars we own catch police officer's eyes. Sometimes for the better, sometimes for the worse. Regardless, if we are in a position of being eye-candy for law enforcement, then it is OUR responsibility to be equipped to drive our cars. With an s2k (or any other middle-priced overachiever), a basic knowledge of speed laws and your rights is as necessary as gas, oil, and coolant.

I read this story, and now I'm thinking of going down to the library. . .
