My friend, well I wouldn't call him a friend. This guy I went to high school with just got his S2000 out of the shop. It's a black 2001. He was talking a lot of crap about how he had a S2000 first so he can drive waaaay better plus he got more parts etc... He just put in a DC hedder, HKS exhaust and a V-AFC all tuned on the dyno. I say OK then let's run. Keep in mind all I have is an Intake.

We line up at a redlight and wait for green. Bam! The light explodes into green, I instantly pop the clutch and we

Actually a car length and a half is about a tenth and a half faster.

Your s2000 w/ CAI ran a 14.4 and beat a modded s2000 (header/exhaust/V-AFC) by multiple car lengths? A second faster? I dunno bro.

What elevation are you at?

Sea Level baby! San Francisco, CA

BTW, my 14.4 was done mid-day in 100 degree weather.

infinitebass, maybe my concept of seconds is off but you're assuming I'm 1

HKS exhaust is worth basically zero, and its not even much lighter than stock. Never seen a DC header dyno'd, but there are only two headers for this car that do any good that I've seen.

Finally, the 2002+ models produce a little more hp. Combined with the CAI which does help, your car probably is faster (and you may be a better driver too). Sounds like your friend got educated the hard way :-)

I wasn't sure on the stats for the HKS, so it's junk huh? Do you have any dnyo charts? I have heard/seen dyno charts where the DC hedder adds Zero HP and in some cases a loss in power. Plus, the guy shifts like a granny.

Then that doesn't say much about your 1 1/2 car lenght. That can easily be attributed to slow shifting!! and yes, 1 1/2 car lenghts = about .15 seconds. Not very impressive...er rather not something to brag about really.

well, if this guy can't shift fast, then what makes us think he can even launch??u might be dumpin the clutch at 7k and he's just barely reachin 4k...thats easily good for a car length jump!!

and shiftin poorly from 1st to 2nd to third (s2k's cross in 3rd right??) thats enough for .3 seconds.
