A group of us are heading up to a local race track (Capitol Raceway) tonight for a 'Test and Tune' session. This will be my first time I'm taking my S to the track for a run on the strip. I was hoping I could get some last minute advice from peeps with some experience regarding launching, tire pressure and etc...

I'll let you guys know how I did ....

I have an old PM I sent someone on lauching/dragging the car.

I'll see if I can find it.

this gets asked enough... I wonder if a FAQ should be written up on it.... just an idea for the moderators.

do a search for Rasputin314's post after he pulled a 13.79 at River City Raceway.. very informative.

the biggest thign is don't stress the times.. no one i know of pulled great times their first time out. it'll be fun though.

good luck.

Well it turned out to be an interesting night at the track tonight. I'm waay to tired to write up a full report right now so I'll keep it brief. Had a total of 3 runs with the first two just being flat out embarassing, the third run on the other hand turned out as I hoped/expected.

First run 15.2xx ET lets just say that a 1-2 grind (TSB) on a run spells disaster, I just could not recover. I probably lost a good second trying to find second gear .

Second run 14.7xx ET, no grind but completely blew the 4 gear, yup you got it I was sooo happy that I made the 1-2 and 2-3 shift cleanly that I completely forgot to shift into 4th. So I cruised into the finish line hitting the rev limiter. If I had thought to shift into 4th I prolly could've dropped half a second .

The third run 14.1xx, finally everything fell into place... good launch, clean shifts and oh yeah remembered to shift to 4th for the strong finish.. I'll try to post slips this weekend with 60ft and trap speed.

Btw my car is straight up stock with the exception of Spoon SW388 wheels and X-brace.

Going to sleep now...
