So, I'll indulge in street speed when the conditions are clear. . .but:

Last Thursday I'm coming home from a show in San Francisco, and I'm at the light right before the onramp. 3 lanes (L-R) 1. On 2. On 3. R-hand turn

ML pulls into rightmost lane 3 and doesn't turn. He's going to try and swing in around me.

So, not knowing that the sucker was an AMG, I just go casually at the light, thinking the guy would get the clue to let me in. No Dice. While I'm ascertaining this, I hear "AMG" from my buddy, and I floor it before this guy turns my S into the meat of an SUV sammich.

So, *whew* I squeeze out of the hole, and now the AMG has taken it upon himself to tail me. Now comes the real shenanigans; I gun it, and get 3-5 cars on him. He catches up. I gun it again, and get 7 cars on him. He catches up. He's choosing to be on my butt like 'roid, so, he leaves me no choice but to change my cruising speed (@75) to something a little higher. . . the merge onto the next freeway is lightly-banked hard (by interstate standards) left, and well. . . his HID's were blips coming out of the merge.

Ugh. SUV's. . . somebody make them stop.

 

you forgot, if you drive a ML your a GOD! sorry you had to go waste the gas just to get some peace.

 

Wow, what's that supposed to mean? You're just as ignorant as that fool with the AMG. BTW, a ML55 AMG will beat most S2000 drivers.

 

A ML has got to be one of the worst SUV's ever made and the worst built MB ever. Even with a big engine, its still a turd.

 

Yeah, like I said, as soon as my friend noted it was an AMG, my gut reaction was to floor it, hoping that he doesn't also take the *next* 60 feet. Given that it was an uphill onramp (6th st. to 280 SB, then swinging over to 101 SB) with no hard launch (big no-no in my book anyway), it was a nailbiter at the time.

I know the AMG ML pulls similar or lower numbers. . . but I didn't know how similar (or how much lower).

 

i sorry my comment was rather hash. i was referring to the generalization that most people that drive MB, not all, think they own the road. sorry to offend.

Personally, no. But I could lie and say I have. I'm just rehashing what I've read.

 

You can put Cayenne Turbos along side the ML55 as drivers who think they are in race cars
they drive like animals

 

MB doesn't offer an AMG version of the ML. (at least 06) You mighted haved raced a "riced" MB ML....my guess it was a 6 cylinder.

This is the best ML they offer (06):

They don't offer AMG rims as a factory option either. So if you saw AMG on the rims...they were aftermarket.

Now...if it was the 220 hp 03-05 6 cylinder...then you would BLOW it's doors off. If it was the 8 cylinder then it would have been a damn close race.
