Default Just Ran A Viper!

i was on my way to work... i saw this black viper sitting at the light in the center lane.. i pull up in the right lane.. i loook over at the same time the viper owner is looking over.. black w/ the removable top taken off.. dirty haired blonde dude driving.. i see him inch up.. so i get ready to do a lil off idle action.. since i know i wont hook if i launch.

1st run:
light goes green.. wheel hop, tire smoke and all.. i'm still ahead out of first.. shift to second and he pulls past me.. shift to 3rd and stay there.. we take it up to about 110 before letting out.. i was a lil over 1 car back. he slowed down and gave the thumbs up.

2nd run:
he matchs speed we're going 45 this time.. i drop to second.. we take off.. to my suprise i jumped out a car on him.. and he stayed back.. maybe he left late

he wanted another run after that..followed me to the highway.. too much traffic.. he was cool about it..threw the duce and went on his way goin off the exit ramp.

btw, this was in my LS1 z28 that is 380rwhp @ 3280 lbs race weight.

I am by no means calling bullshit, but I would have though a Viper would have beaten you. But I'm not respondin at a jerk, I'm trying to learn a bit here.. When I first started reading, I saw 380 and thought that was hp, so what is the exact difference between, say 380 hp and 380 rwhp. Does the rw mean real-wheel, and it's what you dyno at the wheels? Obviously I know a huge amount about this schit So if the viper was at like 450 or 500, depending on year, whould his losses put his rwhp considerably lower, like right around you, 380?

Good kill. When I very first starting reading, I assumed you were in an S2000, and I was going to be real curious as to what you had done to be able to beat/match a Viper.

By the way, I was just looking at the interior of the '03 Viper online.. They're damn ugly inside. Nice car, but crappy interior. Unless it was just a bad photo. Are all years of Vipers like that inside?

When they say whp that means the dyno rated the horsepower at the wheels as that number (in this case 380). If a dealer tells you the car has 380 horsepower normally that is measured at the crank which in turn might only be 330 Whp since some horsepower is lost through the drivetrain.

As for a viper....sure they have 500 HP (not whp) but they also weigh 5,000lbs. So assuming the viper has 450Whp with 5,000lbs weight vs a Z28 with 380Whp with 3,280lbs it seems pretty even

Vipers only weight 3400 lbs. Does the 60 under 4 seconds.

Something is not right here.

Your right, just checked the dodge site 04 viper 3380lbs. Could have sworn it weighed nearly 5,000lbs -- maybe a old one?

Sorry but no. Vipers are strong.. My car would have pulled more than you described on you and I cannot hang with a Viper...

If your trap is about the same then the race is just about what you said. Nice run.
