I race this turbo Eclipse:


We were pretty even through first gear, I spun wheels all the way through first gear. When I went into second I got the 1-2 grind 3 times! (this is being fixed next week, parts are on the way) On my 4th try it goes into 2nd. So I lose almost a car length just trying to get into 2nd gear. Once I get into 2nd I floor it, and I've slowed down so much that I'm at 4,000 RPMs! I was just waiting for VTEC, it couldn't come fast enough. Then VTEC kicks in, and the game is over. I just gained on him and took over from there. By 85 MPH I had a car length on him and was off.

good kill.. how do you think a stock stook would do against him? i've raced of few of those modded out older model eclipses.. don't think any were turbo'd cause they weren't much competition.. one of my friends has the newer one.. it wasn't much comp either.

He seemed about as fast as a stock Stook, maybe faster. Hard to tell since I didn't get a good run, with the grind.

I can't tell for sure in the picture but it looks as though there is NOT a front mount intercooler which means he's probably running on the stock turbo which is a piece of crap. With most of the other mods (exhaust, intake, etc.) and Eclipse w/ stock turbo is capable of high 13's. The FMIC is usually what you want to look for. If they have a FMIC then chances are pretty good that they are far along the upgrade path. Probably have at least a 16G turbo and aftermarket fuel injectors, etc.. I had a 99 GS-T (FWD turbo) with a 16G, FMIC, 550cc injectors, Apexi S-AFC, Thermal 3" exhaust, and some other goodies and it was extremely fast. I ran 12.8's @ 113-114. On the highway, it would pull HARD until the speedo stopped reading around 160 or so.

 

Good info. I didn't want to go look at the car, after I killed him. I actually had ZerinS4 go take the picture. I have no idea what mods he had, other than a loud blow off valve (assuming that isn't stock).

Good kill! I don't thinkg you can see the intercooler from the angle of the pic, pluse the shadows is blurry.

I really don't like eclises. They put some pretty strong specs on the fast and the furious site.
