There I was, driving home from work, just minding my own business, enjoying the beautiful day here in Cinci.... I got off the highway that lead to some two lane country roads just to stay away from friday traffic. I pulled up next to a Buick regal at a light who decided he wanted to race me. I didn't even bother as I left slowly and he did a sneaky rope-a-dope run. I was in second around 3000 rpms at the time he decided to go, so I didn't even bother. But this caught the eye of a LS1 black Trans Am. The next light I ended up behind the Regal who was beside a minivan. This time when he took off I kept pace, not racing, but not granny shifting either. The TA wove through some cars and got RIGHT on my "arse". I switched lanes because a hole was about to open up once we made our way past a blocking SUV. Once it onpened up I dind't wait for the TA, around 60 in 3rd I just went, GONE. He did give chase though so we "Headed over to a nearby private racetrack" but he started out too far back to judge any distance gained or lost. We came upon another light but luckily there was a Civic in the left lane allowing me miss the opprotunity to run a LS1 from a stop (DAMN ).

Light goes green, I take off slowly and the TA is GRILLED to my arse again. I timed my pull away from the civic perfectly so that as soon as there was an opening for the TA to swing over I would be at 40mph in second gear. And as the opening opened up, he swung over to the left lane. As SOON as I saw him switch lanes I punch... err... "we Headed over to a nearby private racetrack". At the racetrack we recreated the situation. Ok... he swings over and I punched it at 40mph. From the start, the tip of his nose was dead even with my bumper... top of second, the same. I speed shifted in 3rd perfectly and continued on. I was waiting for him to start walking but it never came. In fact he lost a little ground through third. Redline speed shift. I didn't really shift, I kind of Karate Chopped the gear into 4th. HIya. My foot coulnd't operate the clutch fast enough. 4th gear was screaming, and at 118mph, he was back a 1/2 car length. We both let off. He pulled up next to me and him and his girl were both giving me postive (read: non middle finger) gestures with big smiles and I returned with a smile and a peace sign. We exited from the "local private racetrack" and continued on our way. Obviously a stock car and probably an auto.

All in all, I'm glad I got to see what my s2000 can really do. This is the first race I had with the top up and my Injen CAI. I stated in my Injen CAI review that there is a very noticeable difference in power at higher speeds. I had the brake duct cut out and was feeding the CAI nice, fresh, cold air. I'm pretty happy with the results. And I don't want to hear any BS about "that dind't happen" or there is no way it could happen, because it did. I don't care what you say. I KNOW a ls1 should walk away from s2000, and maybe even stride away. I'm just posting my EXPERIENCE. It was probably an automatic, don't know. Either way it doens't matter.... all I have to say is......

Oh yea, after the race at the light, the girl coldn't stop checking out my s2000 That means double kill, right???

It must have been a stock auto, b/c I have a Formula with the LT1 and the s2000 and I believe the Formula will leave the Honda. Although never raced them

Nice kill! We need more and more good drivers in our S2000. A lot of people who drives Mustang GTs and LS-1 cars think S2000 is 200HP car.

LS-1 Auto is not slower than manual for 1/4mile. I would say if you beat your own S2000 with your LT-1, you seriously gotta learn how to race S2000 properly. LT-1 is no match for my S.

What the heck is this? Anyone ever hear of starting a race at the same time? Not this run from him crap when he is a car length back or so?

Whats the difference? Not like he was going slower than me. He wasn't a car length back either, he was 3 feet behind my bumper. He swung over , on the gas, and I took off. He maybe even got on the gas BEFORE ME. The results were stated above.

99-00 Formula would be an LS1. He should own you unless you have mods you aren't listing.

Factory specs (and yes they're a shade conservative)

Horsepower: 310@5200
Torque: 340@4000

This is not even a close comparison with a Stook. Given a flat level surface and competent drivers in both cars ... the Stook loses 10 out of 10. Just like the Vette Viper comparisons I'm not foolish enough to believe that because I beat 1 Viper owner that I SHOULD beat them all.

In a straight line the LS1 is just a FAR superior vehicle. End of story.
