They're pretty close to being equal. I could consistently run 13.2 in my C5. That was an average of 15 passes. Some better some worse, but I had no problems averaging 13.2 on radial street tires.
The auto is slower, they will do about 13.5 on the 1/4 while the manuals can do as good as 12.9x...
technicaly, there not slower they just have different gears than a 6 speed ...with a gear change there just as quick, or with a different converter in the tranny but yes from the factory there slower then the 6 speed car cause of there gearing..but still faster then the s2000

You are forgetting about slush box losses to the wheels.
My 98 Trans Am is an A4 (automatic) ..I have 3.23 gears and will destroy my S2000 any day of the week. On curves...thats a different story...the S2000 will hand me my a$$!
I don't think the guy 9in the Trans Am knew how to drive.....but a kill is a kill.
I would usually agree, but what skill does it take to mash an automatic transmision at 40 mph and hold it down to 120? A monkey, even an untrained one, could mash a pedal and hold it down for a little while.
The automatics in the new Trans Ams are very touchy..if you just mash it down, you do not take full advantage of the true LS1 power! The LS1s will respond much better to about half throtle. The cars are all different though...so the driver needs to know how to get the most out of their cars.
