Well, I got another one for you guys/gals. I was out this past weekend at around 10:30 pm. It was clear and cold, perfect turbo weather I was cruising, going the speed limit, so basically everyone and their mother was passing me. As I expected someone would pass that would like to take my night cruise and turn it into a night run ;D As LUCK and I mean LUCK would have it a silver viper (GTS) with a blue stripe passes. I was excited to say the least but I did not want my excitation to get the best of me. So I continued to go the speed limit, thinking he would drop back. Sure enough he proceeded to get in the slow lane in front of me. When he passed he probably was going 70 or 75, I was going 65. I figure he slowed by about 5 because with me still going the speed limit I was neither catching him nor losing ground. I thought I had better not waste this opportunity. So I downshift into fourth just so he could hear me coming (like he could not look in his rearview ) Anyway he took an exit I of course follow. After the tolls (darn tolls L) he proceeded to jump on it a bit, he got sideways a little. I don't think he had any mods b/c the car was not that loud. I have heard a stock viper and it seemed no louder than one. So I can ONLY ASSUME he was stock. I quickly close the gap as there is a sharp right merge lane. As we enter the highway I hear him punch it. I was not ready and he got me by a bunch of cars probably bus lengths. In fact so much so I may have floored it for about 5-seconds then got out of it. He was just TOO far ahead. I was VERY mad at first then I began thinking, he just got a false since of security. Well he slowed down b/c maybe about 2 minutes later I was beside him. We were going probably 50 or 55 and this time I hit it first. I was in third (I believe) and when I shifted into fourth he had closed my initial jump (darn torque, I guess ) so we were side by side. I'd say by the end of fourth I had him by maybe a car. The fifth gear saw me increasing my lead. I was walking not running away. When I hit my brakes I would say I had him by about 2 to 3 cars maybe. It's hard to say, I do know that I could see him in MY rearview. He flew by me I can assume he thought I was still racing (brakes any one)? We lined up again from about 60 and again I got the jump, which he negated, in milliseconds. But by the 130 I could again see him in my rearview. We slowed down he said he had intake and exhaust. The exhaust was rather subdued since I could hardly hear his when I floored it. Either way it is still a nice looking car and definitely on my buy list one I hit the lottery .

nice. Someday I'll buy another rx7. Maybe then I'll spend the coin on the FD instead of sticking with the FC's. Hmmm. How are your apex seals holding up? Have you had to rebuild your engine lately? Are you still with twins or did you go single?

 

It's a single. The engine is holding up like a champ no compliants so far (knock on wood).
I do plan on going with a bigger turbo in the future I will probably port the engine and get new seals too.
