Default launching

last night i was at a red light. i punched it at about 5500rpms and basically
launched through the intersection. it was kinda crazy. i had never
experienced anything like it. my rears were peeling out like crazy. has anybody
had similar experience. this must put a little extra wear on the engine right? i guess i
was looking for the right balance of giving gas and clutch until I found a lock and punched it. it was cool.

To my surprise there was an officer in the uturn lane accross the street. he immediateley threw on his lights and was going to come after me. I got about an
1/8 of mile down the street before he could turn. I got far enough down the street
so that he couldn't see me so I hung a right up some street. I pulled into an
apartment complex and hid out for about 15 minutes. After that I went on my merry way then went on my way.

Find an empty parking lot or local driving school to learn things like that about your car.

Pushing the vehicle beyond your familararity with it on a public street is only asking for trouble. It sounds like you did a perfectly normal peelout. Keep practicing and you will come to know the car much more with time.

How did this get turned into street racing, he never mentioned any other cars. I am not saying it was smart to do in traffic but lets face it, we have all did it wether we admit it or not dude.
Any how I did the same thing when I first bought mine I was playing around one night and dropped the clutch at about 5800 and launched I went through 2 gears and looked at my odometer and said sh__ my civic never did this in second, and immediatly hit the breaks (what a rush).
But I also felt kinda stupid since I did it in such a public street. I also try to keep it in vacant parking lots from now on.....
I can't wait to get this thing on the track......

All I have to say is that the differential on the s2000 is weak... 5500 rpms is a perfect launch.

Nice get away, if I could get away from police clean I would. However I pull over if I know I'm screwed.
