I run with the airbox cover off (same sound as intake). Hence why the guy was asking me what I had done with the car. What gains? 1hp?

I agree, top off makes a little more sound, and barely makes vtec sound louder. However, with the v2 it will screeeeeam, and you will definitely hear the vtec transition.

i scare people w/ my aem when vtec cracks.

as for the 240, it could be an aftermarket turbo on the stock KA24, 3 variations of the sr20 (s13 (red top), s14 (black top), s15 (6 spd.) each one better than the last. it could also have a series of skyline motors, the RBs. rb20 (r32 single turbo) rb25 (r33 single turbo) or rb26 (GTR TT). in any of these variations, the 240 is not to be messed with in a stock s2000 unless its a shitty KA24-T car that isnt running right. an s14 (what you raced) with a stock rb25 with yield around 13.5-13.6 1/4 mile times.

It's got to have a drop, there's no way a turboed KA can spit flames.

How/why do you assume that's what I raced? Couldn't it have been an aftermarket turbo on the stock 240sx engine? Does it necessarily have to be a swap? I'll try to see if I can find this guy and ask him about his mods. I was quite impressed.

Also::: what is the trap for these?

I think he also had no Cat... Running rich on a turbo without a cat can do that. Although, my friends modded EVO does that with a Cat. Whatever it was, the flame shot out at least 2 feet from the exhaust. Huge. I assume the flame shot out when he shifted into 3rd gear.

the USDM engines are not built for turbos, it's much more cost effective to get the swap (forged internals running from $2300 - $3300). i'm not sure about 240's but an SE-R 200SX or sentra can run low 13's - 12's on the stock SR20 turbo (t28 i think with boost inc.), so i'm guessing the 240 would be a little slower with this swap cuz of the weight. i'm not sure what a 240 with RB25 would run but those are really rare so it was prolly SR20.

all this talk makes me wanna drop an SR20 in my sentra tomorrow.

i was talking about the body style. S14 is the body-style of the pic you posted above, just like our AP1s. anyway, if u read my post i said that it could have been either of the sr20 swaps, or rb swaps, or a turbo KA24 (which is the stock motor). im not sure of the traps, but im a member on 240sxforums.com and theres a lot of RB-powered 240s on there. check it out; youll wanna do one yourself, i almost did.
