Default Lost To A Camaro Z28

Was cruising to get a bite to eat on La Grange. Lined up with a T-Top Z28. Kid was younger mid 20's and had his girl in the car. I knew he was going to race. Light turns green and we both come off pretty easy. I keep it in first, half throttle until about 5 or 6k when we both WOT. I had him until about mid third when he started pulling on me. We both shut it down at the end of third due to traffic or he would of kept pulling. He had about a half a car on me. Still fun none the less.

He looked stock but I don't know much about Cameros, he had his T tops off and it had temp plates so newly purchased for him.

Me : 2000 S2k, Full tank of gas, hard top on A/C off this time, but heat soak was pretty bad, was hot and car was sluggish. Apexi GT exhaust.

Thoughts on outcome? I've been worried my car was running bad lately. It's been feeling slower and slower. I also heard a rattle or bearing whining sound in higer RPM's this time which I have never heard before. Sounded like it was coming from the transmission maybe?

I think he raced a LT1 Camara because a LS1 would have pulled on him big time on top.

Oh well, time to go turbo. I beat one earlier this summer with at least exhaust on the highway in 6th gear (I never downshifted).

That's how I would decribe it too. Sounded like something was rattling or almost like a bearing was spinning around or something. It was odd..

The LS1 cars are decently strong from the factory, but it's when the modding starts that they're killers. A cam alone can give them 60 hp, and minor bolt-ons can give them 85+ hp. The LT1 was a great motor, but the LS1 is where it's at, and if you see one comin', it's best just to move aside 98% of the time (ask me how I know).
