Lost To A Camaro Z28
With zero mods, on stock all-season tires they put on 'em up here in New England, an LS1 Z28 can do 107+ in the quarter in the low 13s. A stock S isn't in the same league *in a straight line*. At a road course, however...

Sounds right for a stock ls1. Stock for stock against 3 diffrent ls1's(1 camaro, 2 trans ams) on a roll. Same outcome everytime. I would pull a fender through 1st and 2nd and as soon as i shifted to third they pulled out by a car, then just kept pulling away at a steady pace. I beat lightly modded lt1's all the time when i was stock.

The LS1 cars are decently strong from the factory, but it's when the modding starts that they're killers. A cam alone can give them 60 hp, and minor bolt-ons can give them 85+ hp. The LT1 was a great motor, but the LS1 is where it's at, and if you see one comin', it's best just to move aside 98% of the time (ask me how I know).

the LSx cars are definitely no joke...if you want massive n/a power it's the motor to get, hands down. plus they sound GREAT with a mean set of cams....ah damn i love v8's...
yeah, the only replacement for displacement is turboing your S2000. And in our case for the STi's... getting bigger turbos. And even then we'll still get our asses kicked if the LS1 is really modified. Oh wellz...
man.....just putting a blower on an LS1 is just monstrous. its funny my dad has a 94 caprice classic with the 4.3 v8 in it.......got old, so we put in a brand new rebuilt LT1 engine with K&N intake and dual flow masters. that car isnt exactly the fastest thing in the world but definately night and day difference and it sounds MEAN. just sitting in park and just pushing the gas, the car physically rocks from side to side hahahaha..
yeah, the 4.3 V8s are total dogs IMO. i think the 4.3 V6s run better honestly.
did the car have the sunk in headlights

if so, its an LT1
or the rounded headlights

those have the LS1
yeah, LS1s aren't anything to laugh at stock, but they LOVE mods. any kind of mods really....heads, cams, forced induction, giggle juice, even mild bolt-ons

mmmmmmmmmm LS1..............Me likey. something about that V-8 man.....
yeah i dont know why they would put that 4.3 in that big ass car. makes no sense.....even though it was there for gas mileage and what not...that thing still couldnt move very well....it only had 220 hp....
now were worried about blowing out the rear end considering the car itself has over 200,000 miles on it.

It's time like this when I wish I was FI, to totally blow the guy away.. But I just can't justify spending that kind of money right before winter on my DD.
