This encounter happened last week. On my way to work at night around 1030pm (i work 3rd shift and yeah it sucks,) i notice a Z28 convert. No big deal im just trying to make it to work on time. I drive past it and i love those cars so i look at it, notice a younger guy maybe in his early 20s driving it with his girlfriend (i would assume.)

So i pass him going a normal speed, the gentlemen blips the throttle as i pass. At first i thought it was a turd LT1 and i was not going to even give it the time of day. Then i noticed the headlights, i was like sweet a LS1 that wants to play!

I slow down and make eye contact with the guy he just smiles and i nod. Well he is already downshifted and making a lovely exhaust note. The next part of the story happens fast, by the way the road is dead no cars in sight either way. The road is 2 lanes both ways.

After i noticed he was downshifted, i did the same thinking we would honk off, boy was i wrong. I downshifted into second going about 30mph. After i downshifted my car was at his back bumper. Right after the downshift, he nailed it, so he already had a car on me BEFORE the race.

I hear him nail his car, i soon after smash the gas petal and close the gap! By the time im in 3rd im side by side with this monster. I shift into 4th and start to inch by and when i say inch by i mean it. Side by side and i was inching on him, i soon after shut down.

I pulled up next to the guy and he was like "what the hell do you have done to that little thing?!?!" I told him i had a bit of work done and gears. I asked him if he was modded, he said no. But i know he atleast had exhaust because it wasnt factory. Then i asked if it was a LS1 he ofcourse said yes. Gave the guy a thumbs up and parted ways.

Only thing that i didnt like is he did tell me the his mods, because i know he wasnt stock. Like i said atleast exhaust.

Anyways fun run and the dude was cool and respectful!

My AP1 has 221whp and 4.56gears.

Its always nice when they lie. isn't it? When they beat you and when you beat them. They're always stock or just have some "bolt-ons." Don't get it. Must be an ego thing.

Says the guy with a LS1 Z28 in his sig. I would call BS too if i said i put bus lengths on the guy, hell i said i inched on him i didnt even have half a car on him. I was just impressed he jumped first and already had a car length from the get go and i still inched on him.

Both tops up, his and mine to the guy that asked.

 

It's funny, i have played with a couple vets with similar results in 2nd and 3rd gear from a roll. Whenever you mention it here you get bashed, I find it easier to keep it to yourself.

 

Yeah, they should remove this forum. I have cought crap on every run I have ever posted.

 

Its really so annoying that people on this forum that are so into their ls1's that you post something about inching away on them. To them it is an impossible task that a 4 cylinder with a few mods can beat a stock or bolt on LS1. So whatever! good run
