Okay, I'm no streetracer but here's the story...

It's Thursday night and a friend of mine and I are on the way to a hospital where my mom needed a ride back home (she was too numb to drive safely) which is why my friend was brought along so he could drive my mom's car home.

We're on the freeway stretch, and this angry (wanna be tough guy) Hawaiian dude in a Mazda 6 starts pulling ahead and back about 2 or 3 times, and my friend of course tells me that he's trying to taunt me. Well, the car in front of me is like 1/8mile ahead and the driver of the Mazda 6 gives me a stare like "what you waiting for... you scared?"

He gets the initial jump ahead (so he thinks), I'm at 65mph and dropped it to 3rd... it was a 1 gear victory. I didn't even get to hit 9k in 3rd when I was already 1 full length ahead and too close to the car in front of me so I slowed back down. I don't have a clue about what the new 6 is all about, but that run was disappointing. The fool decided to do a nice fly-by and I didn't give chase, that's not my style.

Mazda 6 is a pretty car for my mom but she dones not like to drag race DAMN people think they driving a sports car in their sedans and Suv/Trucks.

 

they are nice looking family cars i think. i wouldn't mind picking one up to do my everyday driving... i wouldn't try to race anyone in that thing though.. well.. maybe a stock civic

 

i will save my gas to compete this car...

 

The Mazda 6 is a nice looking car. I test drove one. I really wasn't impressed in any way other than by it's exterior looks. I may have done worse than you , I blasted a Mazda Protege 3(?), which I know nothing about except it probably isn't fast. All 3 lanes of traffic were stopped at a light, with the pretty little Protege right in front of me. Light turns green and he lets it rip, getting a big lead over the field. Soon, next light, same situation, I am right behind him. Light turns green, he lets it fly again. I tell myself don't bother, but after he got a good lead, I let it fly too. When I looked back, he had moved to the right hand lane and was slowing down. I kind of felt bad for what I did, but you can only dangle a string in front of a cat for so long......

 

Isn't the protege supposed to have a turbo? I heard they still run mid 15s turboed which isn't to impressive.

 

I looked it up. The Mazda 3 replaced the Protege. The older Protege was available with a turbo, called Mazdaspeed Protege. I see a rating that they barely hit high 7's in 0-60. The one I encountered was not a turbo.

 

unless it is RX-7 or maybe RX-8...dont even bother.
