me vs evo VIII
not much of a race story here, but more of how I got duped.
I was driving to meet a guy to sell him some computer parts from craigslist a few nights ago when I caught a glimpse of an evo in my rear view weaving in and out of traffic. I was already driving ~70 when he catches up and blows by me and begins to slow down. I see him wave me up as he sticks his hand out the window. I also had my window down. From behind i could see a big aftermarket exhaust and a rear diffuser.
I decide that im not afraid of losing and speed up to line up with him. I wave back to him to signal to slow down since we were both lined up at 75ish. We slow down.. not sure to what speed, but enough for me to be at 3rd gear around 5k rpms. We drive slow enough so that there isnt anything ahead of us for a ways, and traffic behind us was catching up, so I go ahead and honk it off.
Right at 3 I smash the pedal and begin to pull away. This wasnt right.. For some reason he just wasnt going. I get sorta confused and wonder if maybe he wasnt ready, or maybe he was picking up something on a radar, so I let off until I start to drop back near level with him. Just as I do, I hear this *WHHHHHHOOOOOOOOSHHHHHHHHHH* sound and think "shit" so i get back on it pulling away again, shifting to 4th while he begins to catch up hearing him shifting gears and making other loud turbo noises. I think was at the top of 4th or shortly after i shifted to 5th when he blew by me like a rocket so I just cut.
He would have won anyway, but in this situation his turbo lag is what allowed him to kill me so bad.

Were you close to 100mph? I ran a 2005 before with unknown mods, and kept up with him when I was fully bolted on until about 95mph and he just flew by me. He was also behind me when I dropped it into 3rd so I imagine I got a pretty good head start too, I didn't really plan on beating an evo anyway

I actually owned an evo 8 and 9, if the evo wasnt tuned you might have a chance to keep up with a 8 from a roll but if it was tune with just slight bolt ons you most likely won't have a chance. Just a tune, full turboback and a mbc can gain almost 100whp with a evo 9.
