I may be off on the auto LS1 thing, though thus far I can only go from personal experience.....

The C4 Vettes had : L98 engine, will lose to a good driver in his S2000; L98 was replace with LT1 with basically the same body style. LT1 has equal peak torque, but at a higher engine speed, creating more horsepower. LT1 Vette will probably win.

no one told me my S is that high tech! hahaha ...jk

i totally agree with you. the newer vettes are incredible machines. i hope you weren't referring to me when you wrote this reply. i was not at any point trying to say "yes, the S can beat ANY vette" or anything like that. i hope you didn't misinterpret what i said. i guess to clarify is that some ppl will take the NAME of a car and automatically assume it is better/faster, no matter the year, etc. porsche has a good racing name, but put me up against a stock 1960 porsche and i'm sure i'll win. hope this clarified things. just to note, i am not one of those "my S is the fastest thing on wheels" guys. i know the limitations of my car and which cars are in my league. also, i believe we were talking about an older vette, not a new one as you mentioned. thanks!

Nope. If you take time to actually look at the S2000's dyno you'll see that it has an almost perfectly flat torque
curve from 6000rpms all the way up to 9000rpms. That's a 3000rpms wide powerband. Not many cars can do that.
Yep. That's 33% of the rev range. As you pointed out before, gearing makes the percentage important, not the absolute rpm width of the powerband. 33% may not be peaky by I-4 standards, but by comparison the LS1 torque curve is basically flat from 2000 to 5500 rpm, or 58% of the rev range.

[edit: a wrong number]
