Default ML55 AMG - fast?

I had a fun encounter with this luxo-ute or whatever you want to call the ML55 AMG. This happened after work on a quiet side road. The road has three lanes and traffic lights about 200m apart.

As I'm rolling to the red light the ML55 guy goes past and brakes quite hard to stop on the line. I roll up slow and marvel at his badges. Even the flippin' brake calipers have the AMG logo...

Anyway, at the time I don't think I have a chance from a standing start, but neither do I care. I just want to see what the ML55 can do. As there are still two stoplights to go, I let him get the jump. Only he does not punch it! I match him and at a roll of maybe 15mph he steps on it, so do I. I gain on him in 1st and feeling very happy with myself I prepare for a quick 1-2 shift, crunch, I grind the 2nd gear

Needless to say, he arrives first to the next stoplight. The driver looks over with a huge grin and as a win is a win I give him a thumbs up. OK, next green light and (to my shame I have to admit that I did abuse my car quite badly) => clutch drop from ~5500, a little wheelspin, very good 1-2 shift and quite a hard stop for the third light. This time the Merc arrives after me

Third time was a repeat of the second, but no more stoplights so I slow down and settle for a nice cruise at 40. The guy drives up, rolls down his window and shouts:
-"What mods do you have?",
-"None", I reply truthfully.
-"BS! I can hear your engine is not stock" is the next comment. Huh? What can u say to that? Anyway, after some more banter he takes off.

I have not bothered looking up the numbers on the ML55, but this day the S2000 was quicker.

not race a X5 but this retired guy or something tried to hang with me in a highway off ramp. The dude did pretty well but hmm, he need to realize he is in a SUV.

"What can u say to that?" Now THAT has to be the stereotypical "I've got an AMG Mercedes so I know everything about performance" comment.

I'd say, "you're a freakin moron!"

E47-Pyellow:
I had a chance to run with 4.6is on my way to work the other day.
I was behind it and the driver was driving it pretty hard from stop light to stop light.
Since it was early in the morning, the traffic was really light.
When he stopped at this light where the road becomes 4 lanes from 2 lanes that stretches for a mile or so,
I knew this was a chance to show him that he is driving a freaking SUV no matter what.
The light turned green and he shot out of the hole as usual.
By the end of 2nd (going into 3rd), I went around and got in front of him.
I seem to get into street races similar to this more often than lining up for some reason.

I think both the ML55 and X5 4.6is are mid-6 seconds to 60. Both have around 340 HP as well.

I spanked an ML55 in a 30-100 roll-on last week. No biggie. Overrated minivan, imho.
