Just got my 01 Spa Yellow s2k on tuesday, and have racked up 650 Miles. During those 650 miles I watched many riceboys rev at and past me. As a good little s2k owner with sub 600 miles on the clock, I was not about to break my break-in for a civic with a fartpipe. Now the break in is over and I got my first "highway race" against my friend's 00 modified Mustang GT. Talking to him earlier in the week he said his car was pushing 290hp with his mods. I don't remember exactly what he said, but he did have some intake work and a loud exaust. He also said his best time at the strip was 13.7. Well cruising with the top down after I just applied my first coat of zymoil (sorry, no zanio), I saw him on the street and followed him on the highway. We got up next to each other going 60 mph... NOT a good speed to start for the s2000 obviously. But at 60 we went. My nose started out at the front of his door and he punched first. I jumped on the gas, below Vtec in 3rd and he immediatley put a half a car length between us. Nothing I could do but keep on keepin on as he inched away. But by the 8000 rpms or so, I stopped his pull, and at the 9 shift I was gaining. I quickly shifted to fourth and ever so slightly pulled back up to his door at the top of forth. Once he saw me gaining he tapped his brakes and I backed off. I am confident that my s2000 is faster than his car on the highway, no doubt about it. It may not be much, but I was eeking out a win AND the top was down. If we started at 40 or 70 mph, I'm sure I would have been ahead the whole time. Good race though. CYA!!

Hehe, I have never heard them put quite that way before but that is exactly what they sound like!!!

Nice run on the Pony...but as it has been said here before, NEVER start a race outta VTEC

The motor will keep getting stronger and stronger as it breaks in for the next 8000 miles or so.

Later that day I got into two more races... came up on a blue ~96 Mustang Gt and pulled him easily (zzzzz) and even though I wasn't racing, a viper owner was kind enough to show me how fast a viper RT10 accelerates. He wouldn't look over at any time so I could give him a thumbs up though. He must of needed an ego boost or something...
