A few weeks ago I was hanging in 3rd gear about 30 miles an hour (maybe 3K rpms) and a new GT was playing with me. They gunned it, and I didn't even bother to downshift. At 7-8K I was already a car ahead and then my gf yelled at me to stop.

Mustangs are slow

since he is running straight lines on the street this wont matter
If the only thing that matters is straight line performance, then sell your S.

i always thought a stock S could take a stock 05+ GT in a short distance straight run
probably not going to happen unless the Mustang driver short-shifts, i.e can't drive. There's plenty of people out there who can't drive in a race, driving all kinds of cars. Since the Mustang sells so well, there's plenty of folks driving them that have no idea how to wring the most out of their car. Just like every other car make out there

Didn't mean anything bad by it... Just making a point. If all you care about is street racing and straight line racing, then fine. Obviously you care about the track, as do I. I would love to go out to the track in November... Don't really care to drive the S that far. Willow springs is much closer. Cheers!

I've read magazines that listed the cars 1/4 something around 14.2 @ 102 I think. At a local dyno day there was a new model Mustang GT getting dyno'd. I talked to the guy a little, found out he had intake, exhaust, and test pipes, he said the car put down 253hp last time he dyno'd it. He was hoping to get it tuned that day, I left before he got his pull. As heavy as those things are 253hp isn't gonna go a long way, IMHO. I don't think it's out of the question for a NA modded S2000 to take a lightly modded Mustang GT, but if I had to bet I'd put the money on the GT.
