Default Modified Civic Encounter. . .

I was driving out of my housing development when I saw a "highly" modified Civic coupe go by on the roadway. The driver looked over at me and I was sure to play catch up.

As we approached busier streets and double laned roads, we staggered to see each others cars. Many folks would easily call this guys Civic RICE, but I think it's awesome how some folks truly put so much into their car. I can see now that he has a passenger and it looks like they are both getting pretty excited.

We approach a red light that always ends up being blocked and we both turn off on a well known short cut. As we merge back onto the roadway, I just GO! I can see in my rearview that they are both really hyped now and I can see the Civic taking the abuse and trying to catch up. We were both easily exceeding the speed limit on a city road and the entire time, I'm thinking, this is stupid. We continue and all of a sudden, we both spot a city cop pulling out of a side road, between both of us downshifting, the sound was surreal!

We both give each other a firm THUMBS UP and drive our seperate ways. Anyways, thought I'd share.

Good question! I have seen it around town, but always on the other side of the roadway. Hopefully, we'll meet up again and I'd like to get some pics.

Careful, Civics can be fast...throw a few stickers on them and a few more hamsters under the hood and they can even break into the 16's.

lol. don't be so ignorant. any car can be made fast, specially with such lightweight. all it takes is the right amount of $$$. the only reason why most civics aren't fast is because if you had the money to make a car fast, why would you buy a civic?

Whats wrong with civics....an si is in the same class as you 1.8t (if yours was stock) Im so sick of everyone joking about civics. And civic do sixteens stock, not that that's fast but I just thought I would mention it.
Why would you buy a civic?...
1) Reliability
2) Exellent gas mileage
3) All around practicality as well as many avenues of modification available.
4) Exellent resale value.
etc.... to your ignorant post

You forgot to add:
5) Drab interior does not distract you from the boring driving experience
6) Since everyone else has one, you can practically fade into anonymity on the highway and in parking lots
7) You get to be associated with the fart-can exhaust, windshield washer LED, basket handle wing, dude I got nawz crowd, cuz those guys are so fast (and furious).
8) Flat floor in the rear seat area allows you to lie down to avoid embarassment of being seen in a friggin Civic.

Seriously dude, of course Civics have excellent resale value, but what auto enthusiast chooses a car based on gas mileage and reliability? Show me a true auto entusiast who drives a civic (not as a beater) and I'll show you an emasculated girly man secretly in love with Vin Deisel.

Oh, and another thing. Avenues of modification...what, you mean you can choose between altezzas or a motor swap? $500 in mods to a 1.8T gives you a reliable +55 hp and +90 lb-ft. And better gas mileage. Try THAT with any Honda product.
